my thought exactly. and they had UConn in the 60s before their opening loss. It inspired me to check other rankings and they all had UConn 100+ and each all had RU at least 30 spots ahead of UConn. so, yeah, that one is strange.

btw, the others had RU in the 70s (rather than starting in the 90s) like this one.

I mean whatever, 70s vs 90s, still a loooooong way to go.
70's were way more fun than 90's

slow down

you are at least somewhat literate with football so even you can recognize that the score is not indicative of how the game was going in the 2nd half. Greg has work to do

I think your being a little too critical here. Another reasonable way to look at it is that our staff (right or wrong) chose to treat a 2 score lead as “comfortable” against Temple and ride the defense. Just because many of us don’t like that philosophy does not mean it’s necessarily a sign of concern as long we continue to execute promptly should the opponent cut the lead (should we build one).

Bottom line - we held a 2 score lead for all but 19.5 minutes of the 60 minute game (that’s including the time it took us to build the 10-0 lead and factoring in a fumble on our end to stall a drive). Put in perspective, it took OSU to the 9 min mark of second quarter to build a 2 score lead (21 minutes) against Youngstown.

Good thing it looks like Greg worked on it between the 3rd and 4th quarter 😎

Right. The only thing to maybe keep an eye on is dependence on Pierce? I have trouble telling who is on the field for the OL. Was he out for our stalled drives where we couldn’t get the run game going and then back in for Q4? I know our depth is better than it used to be but I still see this as a possible area for concern.

To me, it seemed to be more on play calling in the 2nd, 3rd quarter. Except for a could have deep balls GW threw, it got very predictable.

I’m assuming that would be based on who is posting on the main board. I’m not sure I have ever even looked.
I wouldn’t assume you are a main board type of poster since you are telling us this..,just saying

Wow. In the end outside of 0-0 and 7-0 Temple never had the ball with a chance to tie or pull ahead in this game. When you reflect on this game, do you seriously think our offense should have done more?

OSU (ranked 5th in the country) only ran 27 run plays in their whole game vs. and FCS opponent. Gunning it the whole time.
They put up 482 yards vs our 452. 9 of that 30 yard differential, by the way, was us showing class and taking a knee for a 5 yard loss to end our game vs Day choosing to run another play picking up 4 yards.

Prefer to look at a different stat? OSU punted the same number of times as us in their game (3). They also went 3 and out once too (same as us). Our 3 and out was inevitable by the way - after the pick 6 last year vs Iowa in that situation there was no chance we were trying anything there.

Now yes, OSU played their back up QB some in the second half but don’t think for a minute they weren’t trying to put up style points on every single possession. Again - no eating clock (only 27 run plays). My point here is no team (even the most aggressive ones) score on every single possession. I’m not understanding how anyone could fault our production. Temple isn’t good, but their D isn’t worse than Youngstown or Charlotte’s.

Here is the thing- we have a handful of fans on this board that just don't want to let anyone enjoy just being a f-ing Fan!
We are 2-0, blew out a P5 and a G5. And while expected to win, we won both games better than what was expected.
Let us enjoy it for a damn moment.

Now, the reality- no one at all thinks it means we are going to beat Mich/OSU/PSU. That would be stupid. But, watching the maturity of GW and how much he has improved. Our RB's without it's best player - maybe even a true deep threat at WR. Kicking game, an OL that has been almost mistake free. Team that is NOT penalized. Defense- hell, we have to search for a 2/3 deep to find a player who got beat a couple of times.
Adjustments by coaching staff.

This gives us more hope then before the season started that we may be a legit bowl team this year. Maybe even have a surprise game or two.

But no- these handful, just want to keep with the constant "our opponents' suck" and just can't wait with eager hope that Mich and Wisc blow us out just so they can pump their chests to remind everyone how smart they are...
