Is he a read & react guy too?...

..too lazy to Google his defensive philosophy. Please tell me he will return the MSU defense to head-hunting football.

I believe his philosophy is more aggressive.

According to Marcello: As FIU's defensive coordinator in 2010, Geoff Collins' D led Sun Belt in total D, scoring D, pass efficiency D and turnover margin.

So... Collins becomes co-DC at the same time as Wilson after with DC experience wheras Wilson had no DC experience. Collins has led the Sun Belt in scoring D etc etc etc just like Manny Diaz did well in the Sun Belt.. And Mullen lets Wilson call plays?

Why wasn't Collins the head guy over Wilson to begin with? Glad we got it right now but damn.

B/c Wilson was Co-DC with Diaz at State. Naturally, when Diaz left, he got promoted. I doubt Wilson would have stayed if he was passed over initially. No telling what he does now.

We seemed to play more aggressively on defense against NU, and for the most part it worked even though it was new to the players. Much of their scoring was because of our 5 interceptions. Collins should be pretty good and is most likely all we can afford right now.

He was FIU's Defensive Coordinator for one year(2010) before joining Mullen's staff at MSU. This is one of the ways we knew he was a lights out hire at the time.

n his year before joining the Bulldogs, Collins’ defensive unit led the Sun Belt in total defense, scoring defense, pass efficiency defense and turnover margin; all a remarkable accomplishment for a group that finished 119th nationally in total defense and 111th in scoring defense in 2009. The Panthers’ sack totals nearly doubled, and the pass defense improved from 108th nationally to 32nd in 2010. For his efforts, Collins was a finalist for the Broyles Award - given annually to the nation’s top assistant coach.

FIU stats: 2009(not him) - 2010(him)
Scoring Defense: #111(35.3ppg) - #65(27.3ppg)
Rush Defense: #116(232.83ypg) - #77(169.08ypg)
Pass Defense: #108(258.8ypg) - #32(199.8ypg)
Total Defense: #119(491.6ypg) - #61(388.9ypg)
TFL: #50(76tfl-271yds) - #26(87tfl-366yds)
Sacks: #82(20-163yds) - #21(33-215yds)
Turnover Margin: #83(-0.33) - #36(0.31)

Again why did he not just slide into Manny's spot? We're teams clamoring to steal Wilson? Wilson had no previous DC experience so wouldn't it make sense to let Collins take the reigns.

No more of this Co BS give the D to Collins and get out of the way. Oh and pony up. Make the poachers earn it

Damn, I hope he teaches a pass rush.

If your Ryan Brown in the Gator Bowl, you get in one play, bat a ball that almost gets picked>>>>>>>>>>>>sit the rest of the day and think about what you did.
