Live look at Oregon and Washington to the B1G right now.Seems like close to a done deal. Assume uconn comes with them. Be interesting to see what further (re)action this creates within what's left of the pac12
I hope Utah gets the other spot so we can all laugh at UConn losing at the realignment game of musical chairs yet again.Seems like close to a done deal. Assume uconn comes with them. Be interesting to see what further (re)action this creates within what's left of the pac12
I don't think it necessarily has to be a pair right now. Colorado could be the only school at first and others could come soon after or later.I hope Utah gets the other spot so we can all laugh at UConn losing at the realignment game of musical chairs yet again.
It's desirable only because they jumped ahead of the PAC12 and got the tv deal done. If not for that, it's a wash and maybe even in favor of the PAC12. Problem is they didn't get their deal done and the B12 did and most media companies are counting their pennies now. After Texas and Oklahoma announced that they were leaving the Big 12, everyone said that the conference was on its deathbed. Then, for some reason (and before USC and UCLA announced), everyone said the PAC12 was on its deathbed. But, the Big 12 invites BYU, Cincy, and the others, and suddenly THAT'S the more desirable conference?
I would not make the latter assumption.Seems like close to a done deal. Assume uconn comes with them. Be interesting to see what further (re)action this creates within what's left of the pac12
Here you go with the mention of losing patience. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush and in this case it might less than 1 in the bush. GK strung it out too long but it might not have been a bad play because he might have nothing tangible that's good so stringing it along was probably the best move he could make.I don't think it necessarily has to be a pair right now. Colorado could be the only school at first and others could come soon after or later.
I think GK has been stringing this media deal thing on too long. I can see some schools losing patience and then the window for leaving in a particular year closes or they get stuck in GOR deal. He may be trying to string it out to lock them to a point where they can't make a move in the short term so Colorado could be calling his bluff and wanting hard numbers and facts.
I don't blame him completely because the presidents have a say too. When the B12 was weak after Texas/OU left the PAC12 didn't try to add any of them and they could have. I think that was the presidents more than GK. I don't know what GK's thoughts on it were though but for sure the presidents didn't want to do it. Kind of like Yormark wanting UConn but the presidents not wanting them for now (not that UConn is critical at the moment) or Warren wanting to expand more into the west but the B10 presidents hesitant for the time being. How bad of a Commissioner is GK? Losing USC/UCLA and now Colorado? How is he still employed?
That is likely to change soon. How bad of a Commissioner is GK? Losing USC/UCLA and now Colorado? How is he still employed?
Well McMurphy has gone from 98% to all in now. That would be the first domino, now will it lead to more. I'm sure that's what Yormark is banking on.
Then if this domino falls and more fall, then you wonder if the B10 will take the opportunity to circle back to Oregon/Washington. I mean it would have leverage already but the PAC12 losing schools to the B12 would just increase that leverage many fold.

Umm, taking their 2 best revenue generating schools pretty much did destroy them.I think the B1G doesn’t want to take the step that actually destroys the PAC12 given their history with them.
Going to be on UHFBetween Utah, UofA or ASU to go with them is my choice.
Looks like the PAC will get their TV deal after every program of value leaves.
I think SDSU put the PAC on hold when they asked back in the Mountain West and agreed to pay the legal costs from when they asked to leave to the cost of returning.I wonder what the PAC thinks about putting SDSU on hold too. It Colorado leaves that could’ve been a quick replacement at least in the short term.
Games may be on tape delay due to Lucha Libre.Going to be on UHF
I don’t think that what happened. SDSU was ready to move but the PAC and GK stiff armed them saying we’re not adding anyone til we have the tv deal done. Then SDSU went crawling back to the MWC and may get stuck there for a bit as opposed to being ready to come on board in 2024.I think SDSU put the PAC on hold when they asked back in the Mountain West and agreed to pay the legal costs from when they asked to leave to the cost of returning.
In my opinion
That was a sign that SDSU felt the PAC wasn't going to survive as a P-5 Conference.
Now Colorado is the 3rd nail in coffin
in effect it did, but if the B12 takes a few schools and then the PAC12 finally falls apart, the B1G leadership will get to agree with each other at their cocktail parties that they aren’t to blame.Umm, taking their 2 best revenue generating schools pretty much did destroy them.
I'm doubting the B1G commish is going to get Christmas cards from any of the remaining Pac12 members.
Does anyone care about cultural closeness? Cal, for instance, from time to time plays Air Force, and no one seems unhappy about that.CIn addition, Colorado long played several of the Big 12 schools, so they're not unfamiliar. Perhaps most important, to quote Bob Dylan ,"Money doesn't talk, it swears."We all understand the Pac 12 is a bit of hot mess right now. Maybe the new TV deal will be that bad. I had been reading the deal is expected to be roughly on par with Big 12 and ACC deals. Now, who knows?
But thinking about the schools in each conference - the Pac 12 has the flagship state universities of five other states (six including Colorado), plus Stanford. The Big 12 has the flagship state universities of Kansas and West Virginia, plus second-, third- and fourth-tier schools from a bunch of states, plus three religious schools. I'll just say that Boulder is culturally a lot closer to Berkeley and Tempe than Waco and Stillwater.
Evidently the PAC12 commissioner kept telling the schools that they would be on par financially with the B12, but as recently as this week would not give up any actual details to them.We all understand the Pac 12 is a bit of hot mess right now.
