Wonder if they're willing to pony up for whoever their corch is to buy water for the players instead of the corch buying it.

I would think that would be a big step backward for Mullen. They're what ... Mountain West? And wasn't he at Utah with Meyer? Probably had enough of the mountain air, and elevation.

Yeah....no. Embree's contract was only for $750k plus incentives. They're not going to want to do a 4-fold increase, which is it what it would take to even ping on Mullen's radar.

hate to have to break it to you.............

but Boulder, Colorado > Starkville, Mississippi. And they're in the Pac 12. And they've won big before, albeit sporadically.

Colorado is Pac 12. For what it's worth, historically they're light years ahead of MSU. But it would mean taking the UK equivalent job (football only) of the Pac 12.

It would mean ANOTHER rebuilding project too. Unless they throw ~3.2ish at him I doubt he even thinks twice, which I dont think they can.

Yes, Boulder is > Starkville. Most places are. I guess they just joined the Pac 12, so that doesn't mean much. And I think we both agree that SEC>Pac 12. And other teams have won big in the past that currently suck ... Syracuse comes to mind.

Exactly. I don't think many people know this, particularly the Bears up north who really want him gone, but Mullen is very well paid.

Why don't they take a gamble on the Colorado School of Mines coach?

If they aren't going to pony up the cash to buy a big name coach, they need to go down the street and hire the guy that gets smart unathletic kids to score a lot of points. The Leach tree of coaching looks to that guy for advice - he's very competent when it comes to x's and o's. What's the worst that could happen? They suck longer?

Its gonna take $$$$ to get Megan out of deep south...she partied with us....

at our tailgate at the Arky game.....Boulder is a nice place, and much nicer than 95% of SEC school towns....but she likes the south.....not starkville, but the south....

and that is her answer to a direct question about the SEC in general....

it would have to be $4M a year for him to go to Boulder IMO before he would entertain it....

unless he absolutely knows in the back of his mind that a Ellis Johnson season is coming up.....otherwise, its a pipe dream....they really don't know how much $ the SEC has....even us bottom dwellars in the SEC...

Colorado used to be a top 10 job in the early 90's, they battled Nebraska for top dog in the Big12 for awhile. They have fallen so far from that it'll take a decade to get them out of their hole. Colorado is a pretty awesome state though.

"I like the south but not Starkville?" And if she didn't like the south, I doubt she's letting that slip to some stranger fan of the school where her husband coaches. I don't see Mullen being a good fit for CU, but somebody can win there.

CU is gonna end up with Utah St.'s head coach. If they hire anyone else, it

would be a mistake. They can give him a bunch of incentives and live on the cheap until he proves himself...which he will.

I've always felt Colorado has been an underachiever....

It really shouldn't be hard to recruit 17-18 year old kids to Boulder. They've also got a good history in terms of winning prior to the last decade or so. If they actually decide to commit to football and pay for a good coach, they should improve quickly.
