How would second place in YVC be determined if South Stanly would beat North Stanly? You would have three teams with 2 losses with North beating Albemarle, South beating North and Albemarle beating South.Won’t matter if North beats South but stranger things have happened.

According to NCHSAA policy it looks like they try to get the tiebreaker to 2 teams from 3. The policy really isn't clear. I guess they all lost to North Rowan?

When you have two teams tied it's pretty straight forward they use head to head competition.
Reading NCHSAA rules it does state the conference has to turn in the 1st and 2nd so forth to the state by 6am Saturday after the last regular season game.
I did read this in the rules after it gives tie breaker ways but it's rule is about all sports so some don't apply to football but this is the last sentence. Under rule 4.1.13
"If the tie still exists, a draw will be held by the tied teams for the seeds available. All tied teams for a position will draw with the numbers of the spots for which they are tied in a hat."

I'm pretty sure they break 3 way ties with the adjusted rankings. Now in a situation like Bessemer City, mountain island and Thomas Jefferson, where 2 are in 1aa and one is 1a, I'm not sure. I think only 1 will get a top seed.

The handbook doesn't mention breaking ties with adjusted rankings. Imo that wouldn't be fair. Non conference games and whatever else secret sauce they throw in should never determine conference seedings imo.

I did see something about non conference games. If you Google NCHSAA rule 4.1.13 you have to download it.

My understanding it is up to each conference.

Last year there was a three way tie in Union County for fourth place. Catholic, Weddington, and and Sun Valley were the top three teams. Max Preps adjusted rankings were not used! The conference had opted to draw straws to break ties.

It was pretty evident that Monroe and Marvin Ridge were the two best teams but Monroe had lost by one to Cuthbertson. Cuthbertson was way lower ranked than the other two. Fortunately, Cutherbertson, with a 3-8 record, lost out on the draw.

Here is the crazy thing. If Cuthbertson was one of the two schools to make it in they would not have been able to go to the playoffs while the other two schools, if selected in the draw, qualified. Cuthbertson winning one of the two draw slots would have knocked two teams out of the playoffs from the Southern Carolina Conference.

Cannot remember the exact reason but it was either (1) they could not go to the playoffs as a wild card over a school in their conference ranked higher than them that did not make the playoffs or (2) they were not a top 64 team (3) or a combination of those two items.

Go ahead and blame it on the NCHSAA and the system but any conference that is relying on drawing straws should look at that scenario.
