Six years as a student assistant, intern and administrative assistant before he finally gets 1 year as a position coach at a Sunbelt school. And this from a guy who had a lot ofconnections because of his father, and to a lesser extent, his brother. I don't agree with cowbell9 all that often but

when your rap sheet is more impressive than your resume. Unless you are applying to be a gang leader of course.

Paul Johnson fired him after only a couple of seasons at Ga Tech. I watched a lot of GT's games during that time and their defense wasn't very good, despite the GT offense controlling the clock against almost every opponent. They won a lot of games because of the ball control, not because of the defense stopping anyone. This could be fun to watch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive I saw somewhere that Freeze was bringing 4 Arky state coaches with him to Ole Miss. So, 4 coaches from a sun belt school, 1 being an old D Coordinator who has been hired and fired and around the block plenty of times, and then an outside hire of this Kiffin guy, who initially looks to be the scum bag younger brother/son of the Kiffins..

I do think Freeze will get the disciplinary issues taken care of. He just probably wont win fast enough.

Watch for:

His comparison to Croom and the cleanup of 'thugs'
His comparison to Mullen because he engages in simlar rhetoric that they all though cheap with Mullen, but cheer wildly for when Freeze does it.

The lack of understanding among their fans that had he been given the opportunity money to hire quality assistants, he would have been more successful.

FTR he was fired from GT becauseJohnson wanted to switch to the 3-4. Womack didnt think they had the personnel for it andit would not work so argued his way out of a job. In his two years at GT he had the5th and 6th defensein the ACC. Prior to Womack, GT had only finished above 5th in the conference, in the past decade, one time finishing 4th, so GT isnt a defensive power. The pasttwo seasons, GT's D has been 8th and 9th in the conference while running the 3-4.He was fired from USCe as LB coach because Nixwas fired and Ellis brought in a newcrew of guys. So I dont think he's ever been fired because of lack of preformance. Last year he was the only DC in the country to have a top 30 defensive while having a high powered offense (top30)keeping them on the field forthe majority of the game. This doesnt make him agreat DC, butI dont think he's as bad aspeople are making him out to be.

Because its obvious rival schools will use this against him, he probably is forth coming with his troubled past and uses it as an example of what Freeze can do for a troubled youth yada yada yada. To non criminals like you and I, it may seem like a bad thing, but to these 18 yo crack heads it could be a plus.

Imagine Croom with Torbush as DC and Tony Franklin as OC and you have the OM staff.

He's had some bad defenses in the past, but he's also hadsome pretty decent ones. I think he's a definite upgrade over Nix, who I never thought was any good even back when he was at USC and his first 2 years at UM when everyone was saying how great he was. Overall, I thinkWomack's an average, but inconsistent, DC.

you idiot *****:<div>
</div><div>Wommack didnt improve Tech's D while he was there- just more of the same</div><div>
</div><div>He wasnt considered valuable enough to keep at SC- or good enough to promote to DC</div><div>
</div><div>He inherited some talent at Ark ST- and did a good job shutting down Sunbelt teams</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>He MAY turn out to be ok- but there is no spinning right now that this is a good hire- he has to prove it</div>
