I like the Ash hire...I know there were bigger names out there but I'm sure $$ was an issue

Who on the current staff are we keeping?
- Panagos, Fraser, Norries

Who are we looking for DC & OC?

Coordinator I've suggest someone like Eddie Gran at Cincy, I think he makes 350K. If we really want to go big and prove those rumors true of how it's a new world and how serious we are go after a Lincoln Riley at OU. He's making 500K, offerhim 1M. Make OU match at least. I don't mind not seeing the money in the HC position but then if it's really a "new world" let's see it in the staff. I'm perfectly fine with that.

You don't "have" to keep anyone. He might, he might even just do it on an interim basis, butr he doesn't "have" to do anything and my personal preference is that he doesn't. Get away from this freaking staff and move on to the future.

I feel like Fraser and Panagos are "Ash" type guys so I could see them staying

Norries could do no wrong. Its RB after RB with him. Dont mind him staying either

I do wonder what Ash has in mind for his offensive philosophy...

Lincoln Riley makes only $500K

If Ash isn't getting paid more than $2-2.5M, we can afford to triple Riley's salary and get him to the banks
Yup 2 year contract at 500K/yr assuming they're not giving him a raise after this year. Like I said though force them to match at least. Give him a 1M and see what happens. It's like I was saying for Aranda had we hired an offensive coach. He's only making 500K at Wisconsin too. Give a guy like that 1M. Wisconsin would be less likely to match but you get the point. If it's really a new day as many were saying in terms of going after big name HCs, let's see it in the staff.

The money doesn't have to be in the HC, it can manifest itself in the staff as well and I'll be more than satisfied. Otherwise those rumors were just orchestrated BS IMO

BTW I'd be surprised if Ash gets more than that 2-2.5M range you mention. That's usually the area for first time P5 coaches who weren't successful high mid major coaches previously. If they were coordinators or low mid major coaches before and are first time P5 HCs then 2-2.5M is about the right range.

Chris Ash has high respect for Greg Schiano. Thus, it is reasonable to think that he keeps guys who worked under Schiano.

From another site:

Ash was asked if he was in control of offense how would he coach...he would want to do a cross between spread and power...QB that can move around outside the pocket and make plays...I guess that doesnt really imply much

It sounds like what OSU does or Auburn with Malzahn, although they had trouble this year.

I have yet to confirm this so it could totally be false and im just spreading rumors but maybe someone with recruiting ties can elaborate but I heard that EJ hurt our chances with Rashan months back (during the whole Haskins & JG time period) supposedly something with his mother...thoughts from anyone with sourced information??

I personally love his social media presence but dont know how he does with our recruits

Rashan Gary was never coming here.

Have to keep a couple guys to smooth the transition

Panagos and Barthel I think are must-keeps because of their recruiting ties to NJ. And Wilson would be a good guy to keep for a year so the players feel a little more comfortable.

Other than that, clean house.

Panagos and Barthel would be a mistake to lose. It makes no sense to completely clean house.

I'm going to guess...none of them. Panagos isn't the best DL coach in the country as some make him out to be. I'm not saying he isn't a good position coach, but I think his stock is a little overvalued on this board. Was he a bright spot on an otherwise weak staff? Yes, but that's not saying much. Barthel has a back room job so I couldn't care less whether he stays or goes.

There was a post earlier that both OSU's DC and OC had landed on teterboro. At the time, speculation was either a interview with RU or recruiting trip. Given Ash hire, we might already have the new OC.
No way the OC leaves OSU for the same position here

So we're going to pay the new OC almost $1M?
Yep. Both of them combined would be around the salary Schiano, Golden, Mullen likely command. Even if it's not OSU's OC, I like the hire since it will give us a lot of options for top assistants.

The "move on sentiment" here is clear Nuts. But not practical. Having new coordinators is key, but keeping a few guys like Jeremy Cole, Panagos, and Barthel(praised by all recruits and their family) would serve the purpose of having a new offense and defense, but having some familiarity to aid in the transition.

I think you will know more about your new HC with his selection of his OC and DC.

Also how much are they being paid. Narduzzi was able to hire the OC from Arkansas.

Money for staffing is almost as important as the coaching hire.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

I'm not sold on Panagos. Wasn't our line supposed to be a strength this year? Granted Hamilton was hurt, but our DLine really struggled.
