I saw him play 3 times this year vs Petal and if there is a better HS power hitter in Mississippi I'd love to see him. Bronson has 7 or 8 HRs playing against the top competition in the state. The only negative thing about Brinson is that he doesn't have a defined position, he plays catcher for OG. I can see him as a DH or 1B he is about 6'1" 210.

I think he is a very solid pickup.

I'm not sure how many spots we have open for next years class but why is he walking on? Does he not have other offers?

Shumpert has like 65 total at-bats this year. Of those, he's been intentionally walked around 50 times. It was to the point where he literally would walk straight from the on deck circle to first base.
He has around 4 bombs at his few at bats he has had, and he uses a damn wooden bat in high school play.
Bad news is, word on the street, he is going pro if he gets drafted because his grades are so bad. Not sure how true it is though.

And I mean that in a good way.

Based on what we have coming back, I don't think he will be an instant impact type guy, and I don't think he will be drafted or anything like that.

He does have some power, he can catch which is valuable because he can give the starter a day off.

Brinson was a Dandy Dozen baseball player in the pre-season and he has taken a big step forward.

But, I look for him to be a guy that comes off the bench early in his career and then develops and eventually becomes a solid starter for us. I think he is a C/1B/DH guy.

and will be getting academic money from what I understand. We don't have much money to give out this year because we aren't going to lose very many players in the offseason due to having a small senior class.

He originally went to Houston HS, but after that incident he moved on to Oak Hill.

We pulled his scholarship after that- but he is still allowed to walk-on provided he stay out of trouble and he makes his grades.

It sounds a little bit like Chase Lewallen II.
