If another football team is started in any neighborhood within 3-5 miles of Darling Stadium make their mascot The Coyotes. The team can be named for the pack that hunts at night and during the early morning hours between the train tracks, West Pembroke Ave and Kecoughtan Road in Hampton and Newport News. Warn your friends, dogs, maybe the cats and definitely any small children.

Ouch! I remember reading an article 20-30 years ago about the inability to exterminate coyotes in inner city LA. The devils are so resourceful and adaptable that they are darn near impossible to wipe out.

We lived in Tucson for many years. The bastages were everywhere. Downtown, uptown, midtown, around town, out of town, you name it.

They weren't afraid of people at all and sneaky smart.

Then we moved to Alaska and traded the 'yotes for wolves...no comparison.😜

I’ve got a game camera set up in the corner of my field. I’ve watched a diminutive red fox almost every night. The funny thing is my neighbor’s cat hangs around down there at night, too. Though I haven’t caught them in the same picture, I have caught them minutes apart, and It’s obvious that they are not afraid of each other, or are predator and prey. Both are just hunting mice and moles and such. I don’t think they are best buddies, but it’s obvious that they get along just fine.

Incidently, there are a ton of coyotes in Dinwiddie, but I’ve been lucky, they have stayed over across the road from my patch of earth. The farm over there is a few hundred acres, and it backs up to timber land that probable is several thousand acres. So they have everything they want over there. The bears are the same way. If you could take a census, I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t a dozen or more bears inning around. Mostly sows, cubs or yearlings.

ArcticBuc, I’m headed to Barrow next September. And then back down to Anchorage for a few days, then across Northern Canada for a couple of weeks. May I reach out to you soon to discuss northern travel and get some advice?
