Crest vs Gaffney(1997 vs 2023)

It was. I was at both.... and they say athletes today are bigger, stronger, and faster. BS that was some grown men back in '97.
Biggest crowd I ever saw at Crest was the 97 game. Teams full of grown men
Game was moved to Saturday if I remember right. I was playing for Shelby and remember coming to this game so it couldn't have been on a Friday night.
A week or two later I trot on the field towards the end of the second quarter to play center for Shelby in my first varsity game at Crest in front of a huge crowd. First play Shamar Finney blows by me and sacks Norris. We did, however, go on to win the game.
I’m older so my memory probably isn’t as good. But I thought we played on Friday and yall moved to Wednesday. I can’t swear to it though.

not according to the Gaffney coach, NC refs helped a lot! Might as well say it. We are guilty. We recruited and paid the refs off too. All home games will be instant wins from now on…so don’t waste your teams tax payers money or time or gas and just accept the loss at the ranch
That 97 game was a match up of super powers. Truly special.

Richmond still stings. He was 2’ in the end zone. Both 97 teams were big and strong. But Kentrell mercy on us. Best I can do is say Tater was the Kentrell of the 23 game.
I went back and watched that game. Gaffney was clearly the better team in 97 but Crest turned the ball over 5 times and had a punt blocked in the first half. Gaffney scored TD's on 4 of the turnover and a TD on the punt block. Our defense wasn't as bad in that game as I remembered them to be but either Gaffney's defense was great or our offense sucked something terrible, I'm leaning toward our offense just sucked!
Not many. I was two time all conference (back when there was only 1 person per position) and played in two state championships!
Senior year don't think I graded out less than like 94% the entire year. (Toot, toot!)
