Rain/lightning delay. Unsure of start time or even having a scrimmage as of now. Scrimmage moved to practice field because of sink hole developing in stadium. Practice field does NOT have lights. Wait and see?

I believe Crest had 8 or 9 TD's in the 10 play segment series. Saw the first series with chains. Crest held Hibriten to around -15 yards of offense. Crest scored when they got the ball. Started getting dark so left after that. Mari Adams is going to be really good at RB and Huskey looked comfortable throwing the ball. Gotta stay healthy.

Chargers looked to have a really good defense tonight. Chargers have 6 to 7 good skills players on offense. It’s gonna be really important for the Chargers to stay healthy on the O Line because they don’t have a bunch of size..

Crest is reloading, solid team. Hibriten lost a lot of skilled players from the spring. The Oline MUST improve to help the skill players for Hibriten. Hibriten should be a playoff team and could win a round. Crest should win 2 games in the playoffs in my opinion, maybe more. Best of luck to both teams going forward, hopefully Covid free!

No clue but man I'm glad to see Hibriten getting involved with CC teams more. They'd be a great fit in this county!

not the 2021 squad, but i know what you’re saying. hibriten/burns and hibriten/shelby have been fun fun games to watch over the years. i’m all for putting one cleveland county high school on the schedule each season … great barometer test to see what kind of team we’ve actually got.

So from what I’m reading either Crest is going to be really I’d this year or my concerns about The Panthers are legit!!!
Graduating 20 or so seniors is tough for anyone to overcome. As a “long time” fan I feel like our rebuilding years will be 6-4 not 0-30 like we’ve endured before! If our line can step up we’ll be ok. Mackey will get our defense to where it needs to be. Young qb has lots of potential, and tough schedule will only help us!!!! After 40 years of being a diehard, I’ll take 6-4 and be happy.

well said. ‘01 was my freshman year at hibriten, right as the rebuild by cannon was first underway. any late 80s/90s panther fan would be over the moon with the sustained success we’ve had since that ‘03 regional final vs bandys. we played in 2 regional finals last trip up to 3A and i’m confident we’ll get back to that level. one “bad” year won’t kill us. it’s all perspective.

pockets of sustained success and continued momentum have been established in lenoir since 2000, but we’re not on that level with shelby, reidsville, crest, tarboro, etc.

Yes that school, that county, the fans who think they are a title contender and can never get out of the 2nd round.

lol they haven’t figured out south caldwell, watauga, and mcdowell aren’t like the others by now? during all those 4A years they didn’t even belong on the same field as the powerhouse’s coming out winston-salem, charlotte, greensboro, etc.

I completely agree about what we lost but there have been a lot of question marks about this years team coming in to the season!!! I can understand struggling in the first scrimmage against good competition but hoping that some of the questions will be answered in the next week or so before the opener against EL

elaborate a little more when you get the chance, please. i’m not as privy to the good insider info these days living in raleigh. what are your main question marks/concerns? are you skeptical of the program long term under mackey?

Not a whole lot of experience on this years team compared to the last several years!!! Obviously the schedule has gotten a lot tougher this year with the new conference and addition of several non-conference opponents…. Adding those together I had wondered exactly how we would fare this season… I had guessed we could be anywhere between 6-4 and 9-1 looking at the schedule but from reading some of the reports from scrimmage, and yes I know it’s only 1 scrimmage, but it sounds like we struggled on both sides of the ball…. I know their are still several playmakers on the offensive side but we will need the O-Line to make the holes for them to run through….

Numbers are kind of down this year on both the Varsity and JV teams which creates problems in my opinion moving up a Division… Hopefully that’s just a one year thing and I believe somewhat that the coaching staff can only do so much in getting boys to come out and play!!! I think Mackey has succeeded in both roles since he has been at Hibriten but this year IMO is his true first adversity as far as having to overcome the things I mentioned above… I wish him and the team nothing but success and hopefully we will see improvement over the course of the season with all the new faces and names on the field

We couldn’t have asked for a better D-Coordinator. I’ve heard he’s really good with S&C program, too.

His resume checked all the boxes when Reeves tabbed him to be HC. I admire stepping up the non conf scheduling. Hard to definitively know 2A/3A when you got the gig. IMPOSSIBLE to imagine you’d be cutting your teeth as a HC in the middle of a pandemic. I feel for the guy, can’t be easy.

You’re right, this feels like the first year where it’s 100% his fingerprints on the program. All we can do is support him (and the boys)!
