They can have him. Hope they remember to check for his balls in his wife's purse first though.

Be careful -- I made a similar joke in the past when his name was being bounced around the board for one reason or another and got torn to shreds by a few posters for how "immature" I was.

Here's the thing I find most interesting...

He followed Trey Sneed, a guy who already signed an offer sheet to RU.

... maybe he is in the running for the RU job, and is working early to keep the best of the class secure.

Sneed could flip to Miami. He's only barred from flipping to a big ten school

Good point. Especially with Sneed from FL. Just still he's a guy super committed. Why would Cristobal be targetting 11 members of our class when there's such a ridiculous amount of talent in FL. I don't think he's ever really recruited this region for Bama or FIU? But Miami makes just as much sense, was just throwing out another way of seeing it.

I'd be okay with Cristobal here. Has learned from the best at Bama, has HC experience, affordable, dynamic recruiter, etc... Certainly upgrade over Flood. Would be shocked to see Miami go him over Butch and Greg though.

might be a case of over-reading the tea leaves - the article also says -

It's important to note that Cristobal has reportedly started following non-binding commitments from other schools, including recruits pledged to Miami, Florida and Florida State.

About the only thing that this probably means for sure is that he is ramping up for potentially becoming a HC & is preparing to make a vulture run through the ranks of the non-binding commitments in order to bolster the list of recruits where ever he is going - try to boost up what ever he might be inheriting - and scramble to fill what ever holes might occur as a result of the transition.

I'd be ok with Mario. HC experience, experience at 2 big programs, strong ties to Florida.

Maybe he's going to be Schiano's OC at RU and getting RU recruits to know him

Seems the obvious conclusion. I hope that's the case. Don't want him.
Agree. Cristobal, like Kiffin, is overqualified. Too much SEC experience. Recruiting chops exceed what is needed for "The State of Rutgers". Not accustomed to recruiting under-the-radar types.

And is an awful head coach, the position we are assuming we are talking about here. Maybe he is perfect for RU.

Cali, I guess no one is good enough for you. Mario is a very good coach and while it may not be saying much he's definitely far better than what we have and just as good as some of the names floating around. You just don't get to be on the staffs of schools like Alabama unless you bring something to the table. I know Mario personally and can tell you he would be a good fit at Rutgers should we be fortunate enough to hire him. He would fo very well with the NJ coaches and of course in Florida and he would put a nice staff together and possibly keep a couple from the present staff like Paganos and hopefully Norries.

4 Life...Mario doesn't recruit NJ...hmm, how do you think an excellent qb from St. Peters somehow is at Alabama and not Rutgers and Mario is rated as a top rectuiter.

He has also followed, within the last 24 hours or so, all of the UF and FSU recruits.

It would appear that Mario is getting the Miami job.

Isn't he the guy that was offered the RU job before Flood but declined because, rumor has it, his wife didn't want to move to NJ ?

Thanks Twister for some documented facts. While the columns are 3 years old it does present some interesting facts regarding Mario and FIU. And I am uncertain if Garcia is still the AD. What is interesting is that it mentions Davis being 61 which would put him at around 65 now and I am not too sure if Miami would be looking for a 65 year old coach with some past baggage when there are other viable candidates out there including GS, Mario, Chudzinski and perhaps even Charlie Strong. As GS might say....Kyle could also be in the mix!

Isn't Mario good friends with our special teams coordinator? He was on Mario's staff at FIU. Maybe preparing for his next job after this season. You know, "Heads up Mario, these guys are real good. You may want me to bring them with me."
