Nah, the Cub fans I know will be mapping out the miracle comeback over the Mets and the unprecedented run of World Series victories that will surely follow.

on suicide watch? Ouch.

Yeah, being a Cubs fan, why would we be on suicide watch. Cubs are still alive. The Cards are DEAD, killed by the Cubs! It was an awesome season even if Cubs lose tonight capped by the beatdown of the Cards. The Cubs will be back...hopefully.

This is part of the Theo Epstein plan. You get down 3-0 in LCS and then come back to break the curse. Now we just need John Lester to have ankle surgery the day of the game 5.

I'm as far from a Cards fan as one could get, but the highlight of your season is defeating the Cardinals in post season? Am I reading that right? Sounds like an Iowa fan.

why would that not be the highlight if we were to lose one of the next 4 games? could any sane person not consider this season a giant success?

Not really. My goals may be different from your goals. If I was a Cubs fan I would have enjoyed it for a day or so last week. This week, reality is your season is about to end. And I'm not belittling your team's success this year. You have had a good season. But if you don't win out then no one will remember the 2015 Cubs team except for Cubs fans.

of course the goal is to win the WS and the cubs were prob the fav to do so 5 days ago. We won 73 games last year. 73 games to world series fav with 4 teams left. That's an amazing turnaround that has featured the development of several core players that will be around for a long time. If the Cubs don't turn it around, this will still be remembered as a great year (most fun I've had watching a team, probably ever) and the year that set the stage for a continual run of success.

The reason why this whole season is great is due to the amount of young talent the cubs have:

Soler 23
Schwarber 22
Bryant 23
Rizzo 26
Baez 22
La Stella 26
Russell 21
Castro 25

The only thing you can hope for in baseball is that you play 162 games good enough in the regular season that you have a chance at the playoffs. With all the young talent listed and the guys we have in the farm system, we'll be there year after year. This year, I want to win it all. I want to do it badly, but the more important thing is getting the young players on the roster post season experience that will help them in the future.

So you started a thread about the Cubs but you don't care, huh? You are writing about them so obviously you'll remember. Although you deny, you appear as just another of the classless Cardinal fans that swarm to Mecca that is Wrigley Field every year only spew some form of superiority and then you wonder why Cub fans can't stand you. One sure thing is winning and class are obviously not related as evidenced by Cardinal fans (and you).

It's not over yet! As a Mets fan I'm a little hesitant, because of all the Harvey Talk about Missing Game 5 due to swelling.

Steven Matz is good, but is really young. If he loses tonight look out!

New to the board? I've never withheld my allegiance (Reds/Rangers). Ask any Cardinals fans ITT if I've ever teased them about their team. Go ahead. I'll wait.

This was an observational thread. Nothing more. You sound like a victim.

Not at all. We exceeded expectations this year and if we can add another arm like Price or Greinke, will have one of the most talented rosters in baseball for at least the next 5 years. It would be like if Mike Riley came in and led us to the Big Ten Championship his first year but lost in the playoffs. I think we would have been thrilled with that.

Now, if the Cubs don't win a World Series by 2020, then I'll be majorly bummed.

Cubs had the 3rd best record in baseball this season, beat Pittsburgh in the WC game and beat St. Louis in the playoffs.

Of course as a fan I will be disappointed if the season ends tonight but regardless this season was a success. I couldn't care less if a Cincinnati fans doesn't remember the 2015 Cubs.

Mecca? Wrigley is a toilet. Albeit an improved toilet, but still a toilet.

This game is fun, but be careful what you wish for, Cardinal fan. Not saying this reminds me of '04 but the Cubs are on the rise. Not a good time to push your luck. Edited for SmokinSmokin

Oh look, Cardinals fans who are still pissy you lost to those Cubs.

Tell me, what do Cubs fans have to show for this season? Beating the Cardinals in a best of 5 series? That's it? The Cards were the best team in baseball over 6 months. They won the NL Central. The Cubs? They got swept in the NLCS. Good for them.

Not a Cubs fan but with so many young players under control the Cubs can really add high $$ pitching in off season, think Price or Grienke, dare I say both. This is a situation GM's dream about. Castro could be traded for a guy like Sonny Gray as well.

Young team, plenty of talent. Just happy to sit at the big kids table. No worries, getting to the playoffs will just be a formality for the next several years.

Sincerely,

Congrats on having the best record in baseball and then losing in the first round of the playoffs. You clearly have way more to show for the season than the team who went to the NLCS.

What would be your team's highlight of the season be? I know it's not making it into a division series, or league championship series....

Riiiiiiiight. Asking if someone is on suicide watch is just being "observational" you weren't trying to stir the pot at all. Also, you might want to brush up on your reading comprehension skills. He said Cardinals fans AND YOU. He didn't say you were a cardinals fan, he just said you aren't classy. And he was being accurate.
