Intrigued by that Tuesday night game… I think its gonna be great game. I see this one going to the wire as well. East Burke has lost some heartbreakers this year…Bandys too..with the OT loss to West Lincoln.
I’m giving the nod to Bandys…since they’re at home…but this game epitomizes what the CVAC conference is all about….2 equal teams that are going to slug it out until the last whistle….I’m betting East Burke has a chance to win it at the end. Can’t wait to see this one!

Imma take East Burke over West Caldwell in a shootout. Sump’em like 44-42😂

Bunker Hill will have their hands full with Bandys…after their emotional win over East Burke.😜 I’m taking Bunker Hill in a game that could be closer than most think.

I like Maiden over Newton on Senior night at Maiden. These two teams have gone at it forever…and usually it’s a great game! I wouldn’t expect anything different with this one either. Newton has some athletes that can compete with Maidens athletes… it’s gonna make for some entertaining football! I can’t wait!

Wolves going over to the Johnny’s!.. no pun intended…Mr. Lincolnton. 😂
Now….here’s the game of the week!
If Lincolnton goes over to Cat Square and wins this one….that first round playoff team that’s playing against the Wolves better get ready!… hoping and praying it ain’t us! As bad as I want to pick Lincolnton….I gotta go with the Johnny’s at home. This one is for outright 3rd place in the CVAC.it’s gonna be a GREAT GAME!
I’m thinking sump’em like 9-7 or 13-10. West Lincoln.

Good luck to all our CVAC brothers this week.

This football season has gone by so fast but things usually do when you’re having fun. Some teams are fortunate and successful enough to begin the playoffs at home. Looks like win or lose we have to go on the road, but I’m glad we will more than likely get to compete in the post season. The best we can finish our regular season is 5-5, but for us that’s a step forward.
Here are my picks:

-East Burke at Bandys: If the Trojans are healthy they could win this one but the Cavaliers seem to be hungry so I’ll pick them by 7 points.

-Bunker Hill at Bandys: The Bears are tough this year. It will take a good team to beat them. I’m hoping for a good game but the Bears are a little too much. BH by 14.

-East Burke at West Caldwell: The Warriors woes continue. They’ve caught the Cavs right after they've turned that corner onto up-and-coming street. EB by 10.

-Newton-Conover at Maiden: Like us, the Red Devils might be able to aggravate the Blue Devils some but at the end of the day (You know, every time you read a newspaper or turn on the TV someone is saying “at the end of the day”, now, I’m saying it. Maybe I could get therapy. I don’t think it will ever replace the “as we speak” fad), anyway, AT THE END OF THE DAY, Newton-Conover will lose. Maiden by 21.

-Lincolnton at West Lincoln: A long time ago I heard it said that “The East doesn’t like the West, The West doesn’t like the East, both of them dislikes town and town dislikes both of them”. I not sure about that but I had a boss who was from Henry, that’s adjacent to Cat Square, and Frankly, he was a really good boss. One day we were discussing politics. I told him I had the impression that West Lincoln, generally speaking, doesn’t like Washington or Raleigh. He said “you’re leaving out Lincolnton” … West is going to play us as hard as they can. They would rather lose to anyone than us. We are going to have to give it our best effort to win. I think the only reason they played Maiden so close is because their staff told them that “The devil is a wolf in sheep’s clothing” (No pun intended MC, well, maybe a little) … My prediction is Lincolnton by 6.

*Side Note: Dear Lincolnton students spirit section, if any of you read this, please do not break out the talcum powder. I know your intention is to throw it on each other but it creates a cloud that floats up through the stands and even though I wear a face mask I still feel like I breathe it. Please know it's probably detrimental to ocular and pulmonary health. Thanks.

*Side Note: To the West Lincoln cannoneers, if you still have that awful howitzer please don't point it toward our stands when you fire it. If you put enough powder and wadding in it the repercussion feels like someone giving me a hard smack in the chest. Be a good neighbor and point it away. Thanks, and believe me, I'm not just saying this to rouse up the rebel faithful.

--Bandys over EB - Bandys is pretty much full strength, their only down 1 man to a meniscus injury
--BH over Bandys - BH will still feel like they need to prove themselves after the Maiden game, one win wasn't enough
--EB over WC - It finally comes together for the Cavs
--WL over Lincolnton - This is the game of the week. I think it boils down to who will have the better defense of the two teams and I think WL has that, even if only by one player
--------------------------
Maiden 9-0(6-0) over Newton 3-5(3-3)

Since 2004 Maiden and Newton have met 20 times, including 3 playoff games (similar to Maiden and Lincolnton like I posted last week), Maiden has led the series since 2004 13-7, having won the last 6 straight (since 2015). Newton has bested the Blue Devils 2-1 in the playoff matchups. In these 20 games Maiden has outscored Newton 582-522 (avg. 29-26).

This season Maiden has outscored opponents 377-67 (avg. 41-7), with their starting defense giving up 35 points (4 passing and 1 rushing), special teams giving up 3 kick returns for 20 points, and the back up defense giving up 12 points on two scores (both passing). The starting defense has held 6 opponents scoreless this year. The Maiden offense was kept to their lowest total against WL at 20 points. Has scored 27 points twice (Lincolnton and Christ School) and scored over 40 points in the rest of their games. While passing is our forte, the running game has really come along the past two weeks and is catching its stride, and our defense shows no signs of letting up.

This season Newton has outscored opponents 153-128 (avg. 19-16), with their defense not allowing more than 28 points to be scored in any game. Three of Newton's losses have been within 6 points, and the other two were by 13 points and 21 points. Defense is king in Newton and from what my father has said, their punt block team has blocked 3 or 4 punts this year with 2 of those going for scores, you couple that with several defensive scores, you have one of the best defenses in the conference at Newton. However, they don't have a complimentary offense to get them over that hump.

This rivalry is always fun to watch and this week will be no different. It's senior night for the Blue Devils, and while we'll hate to see them go, we're lucky enough that most of our starters are underclassmen.

As always I hope for an injury free week. Play hard through the whistle and keep your head on a swivel. Go Blue!

Hate it’s all winding down. Seems like each season each year goes faster and faster. I’m not picking any wins and losses and usually I pick based on paper cause that’s all I have mostly. If EB can hang with a team that hung with Maiden, I’d say they put a W on this crazy season the next 2 games. Expect the Cavs stock to rise after this year. Trust the system. Just sucks they lose a lot of size this year. JV team and underclass men in the program looked kinda small. Transfers and growth spurts and weight gain coming? Lol

Idk who big #74 is for EB. But he's the dirtiest player I've ever seen. It's disgusting and an embarrassment to the game of football.
