Good morning folks. Happy Saturday.
Big day for the Cats -- or not. I have to admit I've dialed way back on my fanaticism for now. I can't afford to let them wreck or even cloud my Christmas, the way a loss to a big rival used to.
A lazy Satruday. All alone - wife still in NYC, kids dispersed all over.
I'm watching a pretty interesting documentary called The Stringer. Bernie, you might find this one fascinating.
It purports to show that the photographer credited with the very famous "Napalm Girl" photo that won the Pulitzer and made the guy world famous aactually NEVER TOOK THE PHOTO.
I'm particularly interested because I was close friends with the guy who was the last Associated Press bureau chief in Saigon, Richard Pyle, RIP. And through him, I got to know that photographer pretty well: Nick Ut. He was only 21 when the photo was taken in 1972, so only about five years older than me, or 75 today.
I don't know if I buy the argument that the credit was intentionally stolen and given to Nick, but it is interesting -- imagine your whole life transformed in an instant, and you become a famou celebrity. And then that is challenged.
Hope you all have a good day.
