I ain't smart enough to post links, but I see in today's CL that his coach had some rather nasty remarks to make about our pulling Liggins' offer.

I wonder how that coach feels about the other Liggins kid jumping around? Isn't he now going to OM?

I don't understand why you offer a guy early unless you are for sure he's good enough to play for Mississippi state.

Because everyone else is doing the same thing and that is the only way you have any chance to sign him.

I can understand the hurt feelings. Nevertheless, it actually sounds like he wasn't lied to. State was just being honest with him. How can a coach "ban" a school from recruiting?

I guess Hill doesn't have a problem with OM making loads of offers around the country but not having room for them if they all decided to accept. I'm willing to bet Hill is an OM supporter just taking the opportunity to bash State.

The whole situation smells.

An Oxford recruit. Something tells me Mullen foresaw a flipmas hat fake coming an headed it off beforehand. The Clarion Liar is more than happy to help out the bears with some negative press and TSUN wins the press conference either way.

Just Talty being Talty. Sad that the article added insult to injury to the kid. He went from a kid holding an SEC offer to a kid who had little other options and a lot of excuses.

I think this is a good caution for those who hang on every twitch of the staff's eye for talent. Some of State's early offers this year were head-scratching because of the limit space and known limited ability of some of these recruits. These few recruits - or someone of comparable ability - would have been available in December and January after all the dust settled.

Ummm he doesn't have an Ole Miss offer, and he likely won't get one. He should be hoping for a Memphis or USM offer.

Article said UAB has made him a priority, which tells you everything you need to know. We probably initially reached out to him via Wilson, and it sounds like Turner pulled the plug on this kid.

My understanding about an offer

Is that the recruit is told that his scholly is contingent upon his continued progress on the field. Sounds like it did not continue.

Also, did I not read on here that he may have grade issues?

Can't think of a better town to be kicked out of!

I don't think this site is going to work out for you...

Hey Talty, why don't you print an article for every other pulled offer from State or UM over the past 3 years? What makes this one special? Oh, the juicy quote from the Oxford coach...got it.

One of three things, 1)he did not continue to develop or 2) we have better talent showing interest now, 3) both.

True, and for the record I'm 100% ok with telling this kid to kick rocks... Just want to point out we blasted OMU for this not long ago. We even grey shirted a lineman this past year.

NCAA is a dirty business, and this kid's high school coach sounds like he just found out life isn't fair.

We dropped a 3 star. What does that say about MSU recruiting?

If it were me or my kid, I would definitely be angry and disappointed; however in reality if the coaches do not believe he is good enough to play regularly, I would rather go somewhere that I can play (unless I was a lifelong bulldog fan). I doubt that is the case here.

MEH --

I've tried to stay out of the rumor mongering on this -- but the rumor is that he had a fight at his high school and that there were alot of general concerns from Turner about the kid prior to that. Turner is more of a stickler for this stuff than Wilson was(by far). He was ready to wash his hands of Quay and Nick James before the end of spring practices last year. Of course, you can overlook some of that stuff for elite talents -- but questionable talents can't afford to mess up -- and the rumor is that Liggins did.

Of course, that conveniently coincides with Cory Thomas's renewed interest and several other OVs set up from OOS guys...so who knows?

Certainly not worried what John Talty has to say about it -- nor the coach at Oxford High School...

I personally believe the bears are scared to death that Mullen may be turning the corner on recruiting (his Achilles heal per them)...look for more smear in the future. We beat them next year and there will be a Xanax shortage in Oxford.

Definitely turning the corner with our 12th out 14 ranked recruiting class. I'm sure the bears are shitting all over themselves with fear.

We got Liggins commitment very early in the process. Way before Thomas jilted us to commit to TN. Don't really see how us now apparently parting ways with Liggins would have anything to do with Thomas one way or the other.

Our "board" has been reevaluated. Did you skip over the part about the other players we've scheduled OVs for at the position?

We've got visits scheduled for:

Definitely not any more tubes of Preparation H on the shelf after that Thanksgiving 2013 victory.

Trent Simpson, DE, was going to grey shirt but I believe room opened up when someone left this summer. So he ended up on scholarship.

I don't think the banned will last long. There are too many parents that follow Mississippi State and he has to answer to the Principle and school board. That coach will not be there very much long if he tries to enforce it. Plus it is a public school and I don't think he has that kind of power. Also what keeps Mullen and Staff from going to a kid’s home or going to a football game when Oxford is on the road?

It would be funny if MSU put the Full Monty on them by not allowing their football team to play at DWS when the championship games are played there and Oxford is one of the team
