I think he has largely gotten by on talent. He doesn't seem a workout freak, believes he can win a close match, and he seems a bit entitled. Let's see if he has the fortitude to match his results with his talent.Threw his headgear and cried like a little girl. Super talented, but could be a bit of a premadona and head case. Taylor will be tested getting his head together more than his wrestling skills
Say what? They’ve wrestle to seed. Who didn’t expect that today? Are you new?Having 7 guys one match from AA not many of you would've said that regardless of seed.
Good call, Caliendo wins against Parco. Still a bit aggressive with the others, but we'll see.Yeah, by seeds alone, Caliendo is the only favorite. Angelo and Kennedy are coin flips. After that, Bailey and Ayala have winnable matches if they can stay mistake free. Peterson has a puncher’s chance. Kueter would be a huge upset where he will actually have to show more offense than he has combined all season. Yonger is a brutal match for him.
if I had to pick, I would say Caliendo wins and 2 more squeeze it out. I am hoping for 3, which having 4 semifinalist would make for a drastic improvement for the regular season. If not, they are going to have to really go nuts on the backside to ensure a team trophy…
Think Iowa is top 3 this year? Should Iowa fans expect their program to be top 3 this year?No way in hell you are a true Iowa fan. 16-2 so far and all you came here to do at the end of the day is bash them. It just doesn’t make sense, unless you flat out want them to fail…
I kind of get the feeling you are rooting for guys to lose so it validates your opinion about Brands. Iowa went 15-2 on the day while others slipped on major banana peels. Yea, it's going to be a tough session no doubt but damn
How about your likely biased feelings on Brands?
Session 3 which is also known as “the fire brand and co session”The hubris...
Iowa has wrestled exactly to seed so far. If that continues tomorrow, the morning session is going to be awfully tough for Iowa fans.
Corby, for the love of God please go pester some other team. By all means, please come back after the tournament and tell us how you knew this and that and how smart you are and have been, but until then please STFU. You and MSU are trying to be coolers like Vegas guys. You talk it up but you really want us to fail. I promise I wish you no harm whatsoever, but if you could go play in traffic for a day or two - don't get hit - I would not be disappointed. You and your cousin, MSU, do nothing but talk sh*t and pretend that you care and perhaps even want us to do well. But you don't and you never have....you're simply being dickheads.Having 7 guys one match from AA not many of you would've said that regardless of seed.
MSU, you're the one who wants us to fail yet you're acting like you give a ****, which you self-admittedly don't. You're just smacking your gums to get attention. Please take your cousin and go play together somewhere else. You two are quite the pair. You must have glorious personal lives since you literally spend hours each day on the Iowa board pestering people. Spending time on the board wouldn't be bad except neither of you are Iowa fans. F-tards!No way in hell you are a true Iowa fan. 16-2 so far and all you came here to do at the end of the day is bash them. It just doesn’t make sense, unless you flat out want them to fail…
And that would be magnificent...and I think it's doable!!I’m hoping he beats Lilledalh.
At this point, you and your posts regarding me make you look like a complete joke. You guys are the one actively wishing they suck this year because of your issues with brands a guy came on here complaining like they did terrible when they went 16 and two. Yes, they are likely to lose a majority of their matches this upcoming round. But, like Corby said they already have seven Guaranteed round of 12ers.MSU, you're the one who wants us to fail yet you're acting like you give a ****, which you self-admittedly don't. So far, they are in contention. Which is considerably more than most of the dumpster fire creators on here ever remotely considered possible.Think Iowa is top 3 this year? Should Iowa fans expect their program to be top 3 this year?
That is truly ridiculous. The way many on here were acting during the season they ABSOLUTELY expected them to fall on their faces in March. The "March peaking" comment may be a bit premature early on Friday morning before the third session.
The Hawks have wrestled up to this point as most have thought they would. The wrestling about to occur in 4 hours will really tell the tale. They are set up and poised to do well, but they will actually need to do it. Lots of tough matchups, but if they avenge some earlier season losses, that will go a long way in solidifying your "peaking" assumption. Too early to say that right now.
There is a large step up in competition today. This type of wrestling is fun to watch and good for the sport. I hope it continues. Good luck iowa.Regardless of results, just purely from an entertainment standpoint, it sure is fun to watch wrestling that includes shots other than a single leg struggling to finish and riding just to ride.
The level of scrambling and top game I saw today, I don’t recall seeing much if at all in a single match this entire year watching Iowa.
I think Brands is an all-time competitor, an elite coach and motivator. Whether he has adapted through the years or brought in coaches with a different element to the room to elevate his wrestlers to make them perennial national title contenders is where I think the debate of standard and acceptable results is happening. Just my two cents
There's no doubt they've wrestled better, and outside of Angelo, and Bailey's fingers, they actually look slightly healthy too. That is truly ridiculous. The way many on here were acting during the season they ABSOLUTELY expected them to fall on their faces in March.
It is CLEARLY UNDENIABLE that they have wrestled WAY better in March. The argument for me has never been that they are a team that can meet the expectations of the most rabid somehow expecting Iowa to be competitive with PSU or running away with 2nd place. Once they lost Endenne that simply was NOT going to happen.
My SOLE point has been that they are a MUCH better team than many on here have portrayed. They have absolutely already proven that. Now, they can show just how much better they are.
2 Finalist and at least 6 AA’s is going to be really difficult with how hard the path to to Finals are for everyone, but I can definitely see 6 top 5’s and maybe even 7 total AA’s. To me that is still a damn good season…
The Hawks wrestled better than I expected yesterday. Mostly to seed, but in general they looked more active. The "March peaking" comment may be a bit premature early on Friday morning before the third session.

So does The Penn St site still have the link to results, I cant find it

Everytime I read your posts it gets more and more obvious you’re a Michigan St fan. That is truly ridiculous. The way many on here were acting during the season they ABSOLUTELY expected them to fall on their faces in March.

There you go again, putting words out there that nobody said. When did I - or any of the posters - ever say we hated Brands or the program. Just the opposite. I'm a huge Brands (both of them) fan and I love the program. So once again you're just being an A$$. Just because we think the game might have passed the Brands by from a coaching perspective doesn't mean we hate them or the program. Again, you are talking out of your a$$. And please don't pretend to be a huge Hawks fan because you're not. You're clearly a big Brands fan and might even be on the payroll which is why you defend at all costs. And that's fine. But don't pretend you love the program and we're the bad guys. And by the way, whoever has access can check; I contribute to the program on a monthly basis so I think that alone affords me opportunity to question chinks in the program's armor whether it be recruiting, developing, gametime coaching, etc.At this point, you and your posts regarding me make you look like a complete joke. You and your brethren’s level of negativity has become disgusting, and then you deflect so hard by saying I want them to fail when I guarantee you I am in the top one percent of people cheering the hardest for their success. You guys are so blinded by your hatred that you guys are the one hoping they fail, not me. Not even close…..
MSU and Corby will keep this thread going until it surpasses the legendary Grothus thread……Glad we’re nearing the end of this thread.

Lisa: Please go play in traffic with MSU and Corby. Please don't get hit; I wish no harm to anyone.I thought Tom Brands was a terrible coach? 7 in the quarters and everyone alive!
The Michigan State fan reference is getting very old and tired. When I wrestled we were actually a top 10 program. Once I graduated you could see how quickly it fell. I tried a LOT to do anything I could to stop that from happening. However, it was made VERY CLEAR that the Athletic Department was NOT going to do anything to try to keep the fall from happening. Then, once Nasser happened, the entire department was decimated and, while trying to haphazardly pick of the pieces, they took a very basic approach with nearly every program. If Izzo left, even basketball would have fallen. All they want from fringe sports is retain them, graduate them and keep them out of trouble...Everytime I read your posts it gets more and more obvious you’re a Michigan St fan.
you do seem like a decent guy but oh my do you talk like a happy loser!! Raise your expectations, this is ******* Iowa wrestling. Not Michigan State. Expectations are different and you should know that. Please stop acting like lowering the bar should be normal. If we start thinking that way Iowa will never beat Penn st again.
that being said, very solid first day. But all know that Friday morning tells the tale. Go Hawks!
Or a cliff.You don’t peak until day 2, otherwise it’s a valley![]()
The more you post the less class you show...Lisa: Please go play in traffic with MSU and Corby. Please don't get hit; I wish no harm to anyone.![]()
The peak is supposed to be for the entire tournament, not just a specific day...Also, all peaking means is to be wrestling at your best. It doesn't require you to beat undefeated returning NCAA Champs...Or a cliff.
I've seen no one being negative about how they've wrestled so far in this tournament. You've become the master of just making **** up to justify your arguments. At this point, you and your posts regarding me make you look like a complete joke. Class, MSU? I'm all class. I'm just tired of your BS. You're the one lacking in both class and integrity. You have no love for this program though you're preaching like you're the second coming. Class? What a joke coming from you.The more you post the less class you show...
Holy crap... there's no way someone who wrestled in college can call winning 2 matches on Thursday "peaking" lol. TnT would kick your *** themselves for such a dumb statement. So far, they are in contention. Which is considerably more than most of the dumpster fire creators on here ever remotely considered possible.
They will almost certainly have to wrestle great on the backside to get there, but they absolutely are wrestling like it is possible. If I had to pick, I would still say 4th or 5th, but I am very happy to see my calling for their peaking in March ABSOLUTELY came true.
They may not have the overall talent that all the detractors simply expect Iowa to have, but these guys have been wrestling their asses off and it has been fun to watch so far…
How many years have I been posting on here? How may appreciation posts have I made by myself? How many times I have explained in GREAT DETAIL how I became an Iowa fan and why?Class, MSU? I'm all class. I'm just tired of your BS. You're the one lacking in both class and integrity. You have no love for this program though you're preaching like you're the second coming. Class? Exactly, entire tournament. Quite the contradiction from someone already celebrating a successful tourney after one good day.The peak is supposed to be for the entire tournament, not just a specific day...Also, all peaking means is to be wrestling at your best. It doesn't require you to beat undefeated returning NCAA Champs...
Either you can't read and comprehend, or you are 100% intentionally deflecting. I don't want to believe you are that slow, so I will go with the latter. I am not saying 2 matches is enough, but, so far, it is a huge step up from the regular season.Holy crap... there's no way someone who wrestled in college can call winning 2 matches on Thursday "peaking" lol. TnT would kick your *** themselves for such a dumb statement.
It isn't a contradiction, whatsoever. I am not celebrating it like the rest of the tournament doesn't matter. What I AM doing is pointing out that this day ALONE is much better than what many of you were saying the ENTIRE tournament would be...Exactly, entire tournament. Quite the contradiction from someone already celebrating a successful tourney after one good day.
