That's absurd......Gerrard looked horrible and like an old man. No crosses. No targets in box. Tired team after halftime.

Despite the long held stereotype, English food was amazing when I was over there.

I thought the food was awful and bland. Luckily a friend encouraged me to bring a the small bottle of Tony's Chachere with me. It helped.

False. Probably the most bland food I've ever had in my life. I tried fish n chips at 3 different places and they all sucked.

The indian restaurants are pretty good though; too bad I don't like indian food either. Desserts now, they've got that licked....and English style breakfast is amazing. The best restaurants in London are Nando's. When that place finally invests in the USA it will explode. If you ever get to DC/VA/MD area, look them up; they've got several locations there.

I found it weird that Brits put butter on their sandwiches instead of mayo.

Wow, it sucks you don't like Indian food, because they rock it over there. Interesting fact: chicken tikka masala is the national dish of England.

I still disagree though. The food I had was anything but bland. Their sausages are 17'n awesome!!! The thing with fish'n'chips is just like burgers over here; there are so many of them, and such a simple thing is easy to **** up. The place I frequented in Southampton had a great piece of fish.

I had the best oyster I've ever had in my life at Borough Market in London. I ate a ton of seafood, lamb, and duck. Yeah, some meals weren't so good, but no more so than meals I'd expect to have in the states.

I'm glad you liked the breakfast, because I agree, it's the ****. I ate it every morning while there and rarely had the hankering for lunch.

Lets be honest though: the english beers and ciders are the troof. Am I right?

Edit: I forgot to mention their meat pies. I had a particularly good steak and ale pie at the oldest pub in Southampton... Ah...May...Zing...

Indian food is not English food. That's like saying America invented the pizza or the taco. Nando's is a Portuguese chain and not English. Nando's has a spice call peri peri? that's pretty good.

English food is bland and has no imagination. The English will tell you that their food was so good that it didn't need any sauce while the French food needed help. Looks like the French won out. Their sausages (bangers they call 'em) are nothing like in Germany. An English breakfast consists of sausages links (no sausages patties), ham, and eggs - and no biscuits - and scones are crap.

Fish n' chips isn't bad, but it's nothing to write home about - it's about the experience. It's just fried cod (or haddock). Scraps n' chips is good because you have the fish taste without trying to walk with the fish on a mountain of fries . Pub meals are nice - for the experience and brew. You can find a nice carvery over there, but it's still nothing like you find at Golden Coral. It's tough to find a good steak in England. If you've grown up eating unhealthily in Mississippi, it's not hard to find English food bland.

I agree on beer. It's actually really funny; I'd never had a stella before going over there, but it's one of the more common beers they have on tap, so gave it a try. Outstanding. I had several while I was over there. When I got back stateside, I decided to continue with stella. Don't know what it is, but stella tastes like **** over here. I found my favorite beer while over in Scotland. I mark my map where you can get it over here: Belhaven or Belhaven's Best. Scottish style cream ale. Consistency of Guiness but not as heavy and a lighter color and sweeter flavor.

It must be some preservatives in US Stella. On tap Stella in the UK is the ****, but I won't drink it here. Strange.

After Bentley's and McLaren's it's a downhill run. Fish 'n' chips is another way of saying shutup and eat.

English peas make me want to vomit.

I think it has a lot to do with where it is brewed. Stella has several breweries in Belgium(2), Australia, Ukraine and Brazil. They also have varying alcohol contents ranging from 4.0 to 5.2. The best comes from Belgium and is 5.2.

English food is fairly bland from what I remember with the best being their pub grub, which is usually pretty good and breakfasts are outstanding. The beer is outstanding too though there was this one place in Scotland where I wondered why did they want to drink Budweiser...

I was in the UK for five weeks some 20 years ago in USM's British Studies program. There was an outstanding creperie near where we stayed-- wonderful savory crepes, a couple pubs that served very good pub grub (shepherd's pie to give an example), and a good Italian place where after about three weeks of us being around there they made it a point to have iced tea for the Americans staying at the college about a block away.
