Anyone else enjoying the irony of a "department of efficiency" having 2 people be in charge of it

Though I am all for it, it is kind of funny. I find the fact that there IS a Department of Government Efficiency in the first place somewhat comical. The only thing that would have made it better is if they called it the Department of Government Efficiency Department.

I mean I just went through an audit in our company where we found duplicate actions taken on by multiple departments and centralized them.

SpaceX is well behind, it doesn't help that Boeing is crapping the bed lately, so they don't have adequate competition.

But if you don't see the conflict in interests at play here, I mean this is worse than Nancy Pelosi being put in charge of the SEC.

You "win" a contract, sure; but payment on it still has to be earned. The contractor has to meet contract delivery requirements to be paid or the money will be pulled back and reprogrammed.

And, yes, I do see a glaring conflict of interest and I am 100% concerned about it. Your analogy is spot on. I--along with what I hope are people who actually matter--will be watching hawkishly to see how they intend to manage it.

I can’t wait for the federal government to start fleecing itself. Elon’ company is only holding on because he knows how to steal more carbon tax credits from the American taxpayer than anyone in history. Seems like the right guy to help the taxpayers get a more effective government.

The Federal government computers & software are in such bad shape that they often cannot verify that payments are not fraud, waste or abuse!

That’s why the government can’t pass basic audits. They often LITERALLY don’t know where your tax dollars went. It’s insane.

My preferred title in the new administration is Volunteer IT Consultant. Need to fix the IT infrastructure in order to make government work. This is a grind & hardly glorious, but we can’t make government efficient & fix the deficit if the computers don’t work.

I like Elon a lot, but unless he has completely changed his stripes, he is a transhumanist and ultimately his agenda is to live forever in a computer. As much as I love what he is doing for America the skeptic in me leads me to believe he is truly in it for himself and helping save America was simply a way to get in Trump's inner circle.

Let's see if they eliminate the income taxes for us regular slaves so we can have more money to reinvest in this country.

Everything I hear is very promising but almost too good to be true, so I will hold out to see if Trump, his team actually do what they say and put us on the path of American greatness.

Whatever can be done to reduce the size of the Federal bureaucracy and make governement more efficient and return primacy to the states where it makes sense it going to be a win. Got to have big goals going in and not be afraid to not achieve them.

I also think that elon being open with his comments a good thing. I think that is paramount. Transparency.

Maybe the effort of DOGE falls way short. Maybe because of internal resistance from the bureaucracy. maybe because of the fact that its associated with Trump and those with TDS will resist it just on that basis alone. Or maybe that after trying it turns out that there isn't much that can be cut. I personally want to see the effort.

Not unsimilarily, I think elons insistance that we're going to colonize mars is crazy. BUT hey becase of that crazy idea, space x is on the cutting edge and pushing boundaries that might just make colonizing the moon possible.
