Despite what Dooley said...

I have on good confidence that he is meeting with Byrne tonight. He's in town with the WBB team. Convenient cover-up.

I'm guessing DD is a convenient back-up plan if Byrne's top candidates fall through, though. At least, I hope so.

if we had beaten them, this coaching search going on right now wouldn't be happening. We would have Croom for at least one more year. So if you didn't want Croom back, I guess in part you can thank Dooley for that.

.......other better options out there. Dooley feels like a "last resort because nobody else would touch MSU with a 100-foot pole" choice.

He would just be a 6-6 coach with an overall losing record in two years. But I'll say he was a great hire for Louisiana Tech and it won't surprise me if he's competing in that conference in another two years.

Would you want him?

Wait.

Don't answer that. I'll answer it for you.

BR549: "Uh...uh...well, I don't know if Leach was a lawyer or not but you know what I mean. I hate lawyers, especially ones from the Sue-niversity of Mississippi. Screw that Scruggs guy. Unless, somebody wants to try and rip me off and then I'll sue the **** out of them. Anyway, I don't want Dooley because he's a coach at Louisiana Tech and they suck, even though they beat us this year. That was all Croom's fault, not anything that Dooley did. Wait. What? He was recruiting coordinator at LSU too? He can upgrade our moribound talent level? So. I hate him still. Freaking trial lawyers. **** on 'em. Woo Hooooooo....Clang clang clang...They hate us for our freedom..."

Hey BR...never let logic and truthiness get in the way of a good non-sequitorial asinine utterance.

....Dooley = Tommy Raffo.

If Byrne had hired Tommy Raffo as our new baseball coach, then there would be a 90% chance he would hire Dooley in order to complete the ensemble of low expectations.

But since he didn't hire Raffo, I don't think we have to worry about Dooley (not unless Plan A, B, C & D fall through).

While you're at it, you could start writing books and selling the rights to make movies to them for tens of millions of dollars.

you may be smarter than Greg Byrne, and he is a 17ing genius if you didn't know that already.

Really though, I have no problem with him being a lawyer, that wasn't my point. It's just a little curious to me that he goes to school gets a law degree and practices law for a few years then decides he wants to coach. I'm not saying anything is wrong with that just a little different than a typical coach's career path.

on the way down and one "probably" on the way up? Dooley might be a gamble or an investment. He seems to meet the criteria that Byrne is looking for. He has the bloodline. My old man always said always check the bloodline...just like horses and dogs.

Byrne can not meet with Dooley without asking Tech's permission to talk to him. We have not asked for that permission. We are not going to hire Dooley. He is not a serious candidate.

that was nothing more than an attempt to appear as though he thwarted state's advances when the truth is he isn't on the first three pages of the wish list.

How would that conversation go:

GB: Hello Derek, I'd like permission to speak to your football coach about our opening
DD: Hold on, he's right here.

DD has never been considered for this opening. One media outlet threw **** at a wall in an effort to make it stick. If it did stick, they're the ones that broke the story, if it didn't - no one gives a 17.

Hell, Channel 12 out of Jackson listed Philip Fulmer as the leading candidate tonight, followed by Dooley and Mike Dubose.

I can't speak for anyone else, and I don't have any "hatred" for the guy, but I don't want us to even look at him based upon the fact that he isn't remotely qualified for an SEC job. I don't even think there's an argument to made on his behalf at this point in his career.

You can't ask Dooley to speak to Dooley. You have to ask his boss if you want to directly talk to him about a job. Byrne would follow proper channels to talk to him. He would have to call Dan Reneau, President of Tech to talk to Dooley and he has not done that. Dooley is not a legitimate candidate. He never has been.
