A lot of the problem is the ball doesn't carry well at Dudy-Noble.

As I said, I want to bring the power alleys in.

I'm OK with the dimensions at the foul poles and in dead CF. But, because of our wall, I'd like to see us put a line that is even with the fence where if you hit a ball over the line, it's a home run rather than you have to hit it over the wall.

I know moving the fences in at the power alleys is the cheapest way to go. However, they will have to curve the stadium down the lines to make chairbacks feasible. And to do that the foul lines have to move away from the foul line fences, which would make them take some of the round out of the outfield fence, and definitely shorten the power alleys and dead center. Probably be cheaper to just build a new stadium, than to redesign the existing one though.

I know there was talk of moving the infield further away from the backstop, (probably by lowering the field), and then adding more to the box seats there, but I guess that was not feasible. I know we have some sharp engineers who can figure out how to make the seating work down the lines without doing a complete overall. One of you geniuses needs to get to work on that.

If we moved the fences in how many more bombs would the bears had today? We need a big park with our weak hitters.

It appears a 12 foot move of home plate towards CF without moving the outfield fence would result in making the "existing" CF wall 378 feet away from home, the left field power alley 369 feet from home, the right field power alley 367 feet from home, while still maintaining 330 to left field fair pole and 326 to right field fair pole. My scale may be off a tad, but moving home plate 12 feet towards center field, would move each fair line 7 feet further away from the corresponding fence down each line. The Chairback seats in the main grand stand are even with the fences down each line, so to add grandstand all the way down, you would be able to put the wall of grand stand where the fence is or an additional 12 feet from where the bleachers are right now (5 feet walk way between bleachers and fence + the additional 7 feet the fair line moved away from the fence) Obviously, the new grandstand wall would have to be angled, but the existing grand stand would not move, so that should be a sufficient angle for viewing the infield from both sides down the lines.

Surely somebody with a fancy degree has already looked into this, but I am just speculating how it "could" be done.

Edited to add: If my estimates are correct, and they are just estimates, we could add about 1500 seats per side with one mid-ramp and one end ramp on each side. That is 3000 additional Chairbacks added to the existing 6700 giving us 9700 permanent seats. We had almost 13,000 for the Super Regionals, so with the Outfield seating that should be plenty. We aren't going to break the record of 14,991 anyway unless we have a team that is like 30-5 going into Super Bulldog Weekend....or We host a Super and they actually allow everybody in.

Vickerson's homeruns traveled just over the 365 foot left field power alley.

How many homeruns has Kentucky's SEC opponents hit against them?

How many HRs have our pitchers given up in the smaller ball parks? We don't have a pitching problem. We have a hitting and defense problem.

Shorter fences also mean smaller outfields so if you have good pitching, it might actually help the defense some. **Since our hitters find gloves no matter where they are on the field, what with all the ground balls and foul pop outs and such, maybe less outfield to cover will help our defensive guys run down a few more of the other guys fly balls.**
