Didn't realize Berea College was a center for dumb 2021 style woke-ness ?

"We encourage open dialog on difficult topics. Racism and white nationalism have been topics of great debate over the past five years. The event planned for next week seeks to confront aspects of the political spectrum that relate to the difficult topic of race in America. While that may cause discomfort, it is a valid and important conversation in this time of political and racial division. It is our hope that these types of conversations will occur across the country. Open, honest dialogue is essential to understanding racism and moving toward an anti-racist society."

Is this controversial? Is there a better place to have these discussions than on a college campus?

I promise you they’re not interested in “open and honest dialogue”. One side of that dialogue will not be allowed. When the left says a conversation is needed, that’s code for we’re going to tell you how it is and if you disagree you’re a bigot/racist/slanderdujour.

Is there a non racist pro-white nationalism position? Seems like all that is needed is the argument that conservative does not equal racist. I don’t see where there is an argument or sides to be had unless you would actually want to advocate for racism. Easy enough no?

-no, chroix...but this is:

"resituate Trumpism and white citizenship as forms of white terrorism enacted against the majority of people living within the borders of the U.S. and beyond".

-dafuq is "white citizenship"?

Yep. Just dumb. But easy enough to refute.

The title isn’t white nationalism...it’s white citizens(hip).

They will discuss anything as long as it’s negative toward any opposing idealogy.

Yes, easy enough considering the left controls the narrative. Here’s the problem though - ANY truly conservative opinion is automatically slapped as racist and “white nationalist” even though those labels are absurd. The left knows it’s absurd and not true. They don’t care though. That’s got nothing to do with it. Define your opponent and make them constantly play defense.

Pro immigration control = white nationalism
Belief in western values = white nationalism
America first policies = white nationalism

It’s a ridiculous and disingenuous slander solely for the purpose of making conservative positions radioactive.

There will be 10x as many people posting on this thread as there will be in attendance on that Zoom call.

But for those of you who have been impacted — sending prayers. I hope you and your families are okay and can make it through this.

This mindset is wrong. Topics like this are infecting nearly every facet of American culture. Yes, attendance may be limited at this one event at Berea College. But it goes way beyond that. If this isn’t stopped, and it doesn’t appear that it will be, this will be in grade schools within two or three years if not sooner.

Culture is downstream from Academia. Politics is downstream from culture.

So yes, this will soon affect everyone. And historically, when you start dividing and defining individuals by physical characteristics, targeted political policies usually follow and it typically doesn’t end well.

"Didn't know" my ***. It's Berea College. Not exactly a stalwart of conservative thought. But thanks for another politics-adjacent thread that will either be locked and/or 7 pages long ...

Any philosophy that demonizes people based on race should not go unchallenged, whether it’s at Berea or anywhere else.

I thought you were an educator?

The heart of it all right here. It’s about separating the tree from the roots.

My profession has nothing to do with this. Posting on a message board to ostensibly rile up the base, as the OP has consistently done over the past two months, is a waste of time. I don't care what your politics are, there is nothing in my post that is untrue.

Domestic Terrorist seems cut and dry.

This past summer, or even today, which would you feel safer walking through at night:

A small town in the reddest congressional district in the US, or one of the large cities in one of the bluest districts in the US?

The answer to this that those on the left will ignore is telling regarding where true domestic terrorism exists.

I believe you’re wrong. That’s because there’s no way in hell you, me, or anybody else would be ok with a hateful group giving a hateful presentation at a college because “oh, it’s a conservative college. What did you expect?”

You ought to be riled. Anybody who’s against things that drive Americans from each other ought to be riled.

Outside the student center at UK in the 90s/00s, in the "free speech area," nearly every day there was famously a loud mouthed preacher clutching a bible and screaming at everyone who walked by that we were going to burn in hell, calling girls whores, and spewing hatred and vitriol one fire and brimstone rant at a time.

We survived. The world survived. We all got thru it.

But its not open dialogue , you cant possibly believe that. Secondly " white nationalism" isn't a topic of great debate unless you are glued to far left media . I promise you if I ask my 9 employees " is White nationalism ever been discussed in your circle " the answer would be 9 " No's" This woke event sure isn't about open and honest dialogue .

True. But here’s the difference - was this lunatic an officially sanctioned speaker of the university? Similarly, did nearly every single other university in the country have dozens of likeminded hired speakers that students were encouraged to attend and listen to?

No?

I remember him well. But you’re wrong. People like him never ended up in control of higher education, media, and an entire wing of the Democrat party. Until now.
