What were some of the comments? My guess is that when the writer says "he knew he was settling for second best" referring to La Tech, that stirred some of rustonians to there keyboards.

Many of the area’s top recruits had long acknowledged where they would be signing — some as far as back as this summer and some as recently as two days ago.

But all didn’t go as planned on Wednesday.

There had to be one curve ball, and it came from one of the biggest goofballs to ever walk the hallways of West Monroe.

Offensive lineman Dillon Day is fun loving with his usual attire consisting of stone washed colored jeans and some hightop sneakers straight from the ’80s LA Gear line.

All kidding aisde though, Day knows what he wants and even when he committed to Louisiana Tech this past weekend, he knew he was settling for second best.

“I was waiting for my offer from Mississippi State, and it didn’t come,” Day said. “So I was just kind of like, ‘What’s going on?’ That’s when I decided to go to Tech.”

That was until noon Tuesday when the Bulldogs from out of state contacted Day’s mother, who found a way to get in touch with her son in the middle of the school day.
“Mississippi State was always No. 1,” Day said. (Offensive line coach) John Hevesy is a really good coach. He coached for Florida when they won the national championship so I feel like I can get the best out of it.”

Day withdrew from any eccentric wardrobe for signing day. Instead, his sister Cassie made a pitstop in Mississippi on her way from New Orleans just to be at Day’s signing. “She got me a jacket and a hat,” Day said. “I had a hoodie I like, but she made me wear this.”
