One possible positive is that for once it looks like Stans may have put his foot down and sent a message that this kind of ******** isn't going to be tolerated. In the past, we'd have seen a 2-game suspension and a 2nd chance, a 3rd chance, a 4th chance, etc.

Also, who else thinks that DJ Gardner never does anything in college basketball in his career?

I'm hoping, as a fan, that this means Stans is actually doing what needed to be done. History says otherwise, but some current events (scheduling beef, workout tweets) seem to indicate a new era in expectations for head coaches of the basketball program. Here's hoping.

I guess after 4 years of Ravern and Kodi's ******** Stans has decided to nip the attitude problems in the bud before it gets out of hand.

It appears Stans is finally getting fed up with this ****. And if you read his comments about Sidney, his leash is very very short too. DJ just wouldn't stop on twitter. The last one where he said something about being redshirted and I'm done probably seeled his fate. I hate it cause I think he is going to bea pretty damn good player. He can fill it up from deep. It says permanently dismissed. I for one would've liked to see temporarily there and let him work to get back in the graces. But again, seems as if Stans is fed up

As usual pat, Stans will be criticized either way but from all reports D J was a great shooter but would have played none this season so he saw the handwriting on the walland didn't like it. I would suspect he also knows that Sword and theother commitment comingin next year are better than him too. I was told he didn't like lifting weights or any of the other things required to grow and be better. Hopefully he cango Juco somewhere and mature and play somewhere.

the basketball team going forward? With the team actually working out now and possibly more discipline being required, Stans seems to be doing things a little differently than in the past.

that in addition to Stans obvious shortcomings as a coach ON the court, he continues to make some really bad decisions on the recruiting trail at times in terms of who he is recruiting. It's almost like he's willing to just take on any and all prospects that have shown some basketball ability and then weed through them in terms of skill and character level once they reach campus. He seems as though he does practically zero homework on a player during the recruiting process other than if he wants 3 Bryan hotdogs or 4. If there had been some honest, frank discussions with Gardner during the recruiting process, some of this may have been eliminated. Stans is the king of lack of communication with his players. As a person who has actually witnessed some of their recruiting techniques up close, I can say we go about it somewhat laughable.

On to the Sidney drama and let's see if he makes it to the first exhibition game.

The Recruiter is coaching for his job this year- but even with the loss of a super talent like Gardner, I think we'll make the Tourney to save his job.

I just want to see the same treatment given to Sidney and others should we experience another situation like this- that will be the true test

How is a coach supposed to ascertain how a kid that is used to being "The Man" is going to react when all of a sudden he finds himself at the bottom of the depth chart?

Isn't it quite possible that Stans never saw this side of DJ until now?

But as you said earlier, it was Stans that suspended Sidney for the Europe trip. It looks like Stansmay beat least trying to get some control over this team. It'll be interesting to see if this is too little too late for him or if he'll actually be able to do it.

Angela Gardner said her son was lied to during the recruiting process
earlier this year, when he was told by coaches he would see significant
playing time this season.
Yeah, nevermind the fact that your son apparently hasn't picked up a weight since being on campus or the fact that HE asked for the redshirt. He was just lied to.
I don’t like the tweets. It’s not acceptable to me but he was upset.
Well, that's good. Cursing out the coaches, acting like a 12-year-old, and throwing away your scholarship is ok as long he was upset. Glad to know that it was justified since getting together and actually having a conversation with the coaches would have just been way to difficult.

Mama's money ticket just shat the bed, and now everyone's pissed. Plain and simple, but by all means, take your son to become a future NBA superstar somewhere else where he won't be so unjustly held back.

I'd say the truth is in the middle somewhere but AGAIN it sounds like there was a lack of communication which is more than a pattern. I have had it with Stans. This **** is beyond ridiculous. Every F'n year. Last year was an absolute disgrace. This is beyond embarassing. Stans is a freakin joke and always has been. It has been the same since he got here. The guys think he is a joke and have no respect for the guy. The same things the players told me 10 years ago are the same things that are obviously going on now. The guy is a joke and the players treat him as such. At this point I could care less about what we do this year. I am tired of Stans, his staff and his players embarassing us. I would have sent his *** home with sid and bailey in hawaii last year, and that would have been the last time he coached at MSU.

Stansbury kick Gardner off and the board says he is losing control of the team.

Stansbury doesn't kick him off and the board says he is losing control of the team.

Hell I applaud Stansbury for getting rid of Gardner before he starts causing problems like Ravern and Kodi did. I don't care if he is a 6 star recruit who ***** gold nuggets, I am sick of these idiots and their twitter. I just hope he does the same for any other moron on the team that did not get the memo.

many of us are glad that he kicked him off and showed some discipline

But its just the simple fact that The Recruiter is having to do this in the 2nd week of school is not lost on anyone. IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING GOING ON WITH OUR BASKETBALL PROGRAM. ALWAYS...

It's the constant ******** associated with the program that makes it look like a joke

He pouted because he didn't want to be in a three man rotation. He thought he should start from day one and when he found out he wasn't going to start he wanted to Redshirt. Outside of Stansbury saying that he would be the starter by November what else was there to say?
I have my issues with Stansbury but College Basketball players are becoming the absolute biggest spoiled babies ever. It's getting to the point that you may as well only have 5 people on your team and a few backups, the Calipari method. Otherwise all they do is pout and become terrible distractions. And I don't blame the coaches for it. It's the Parents, the AAU system, the NBA and their one and done policy, et al... I've got a freind who I went to school with. She, a single mom, fully expects her son to be an NBA star and very soon. She goes to all his practices, coaches his local team, always updates her Facebook status with how great he's going to be. Yeah he's in seventh grade. Being part of a team, working for your position, persevering, you know typical part of playing sports none of that exists.
I gaurantee you this kid wanted the staff to treat him just like they were his Mom. When he didn't get it he became unhappy. I just wish he would have thrown this tantrum before we paid forhis trip to Europe.</p>
