If there is anyone I can understand leaving with eligibility left and a dubious NBA future, it would be RHJ, his father is a 5 time NBA Champion, played with Jordan, was the 8th pick in the draft, 15-year NBA career etc.
But you get to be on TV!!!

True story. Roy got cut from the freshman team at Franklin! (Even I made it ) but we were all shocked! But of course by our Senior year we were one of tge best in NJ.. Roy was dominantI love Cliff, but Roy was an absolute terror on defense. His senior year, he averaged nearly 5 blocks and a steal a game. There was only one game in his career where he got abused in a post like we have seen from Cliff against Nebraska and Iowa for example. That was his freshman year against John Pinone. Hinson was really not a polished player on offense until he got to the pros. But his defense was the best we have had, and that includes James Bailey.
YES ! Chris Cummings. Do you remember where on the court this happened ? It was just a few feet from me.Yes — Rhode Island — guy had played only a few minutes that year prior to that
I don’t recall Jaden having a college degree and multiple years as a starter on a P6 team and conference honors.Cliff should give Jaden Jones a call.
Kofi Cockburn would be a better compCliff should give Jaden Jones a call.
This. Both Geo and Caleb dragged it out.As much as it would be great to have him back – I just hope he makes his decision quickly. Same with Paul.
I would prefer to not have the program hang in limbo while these decisions are made. There will be opportunities to get impact transfers, and the longer it takes for them to make their decisions the more challenging it will be to reel these guys in.
Cliff is intelligent. He’s won’t be leaving for the NBA draft. It will be about $$ and where he can improve the most….unless, of course, he feels there is unfinished business here and whether that’s important to him.Cliff should give Jaden Jones a call.
He needs to be able to have a short jumper game, finish his layups and decrease misses on slam dunks. Wherever he can work on this best is where he should go.Plus he’ll have completed his degree. And I’m sure he wouldn’t mind being able to go home. Been a blessing to have Cliff, but if I were in his shoes, I don’t think I would come back.
Seems like he’d be a “slam dunk” for first team B1G next year, though I don’t know if that would help his draft stock.
That is a tough one. But I am thinking it was near the Rhode Island bench. I have a vision of him grabbing Hinson‘s shirt, but I might be mistaken.YES ! Chris Cummings. Do you remember where on the court this happened ? It was just a few feet from me.
Apparently its the NBA because he admitted in an interview that he spent the WHOLE off season working on his mid range and 3pt jump shot instead of working on his post game, post defense and rebounding technique. This may not be a popular thing to say.
I really like Cliff a lot and he means a lot to the team, but.....
His progression from last year to this year really stalled. His NBA stock has plummeted from where he was last year at this time. I think he needs to look in the mirror and ask himself why am I not as skilled as a guy like Hunter Dickinson. Why have I not developed a perimeter game? Why do I have limited low post moves?
How much of those answers is Cliff to blame? Is it just not in the cards for him to have those skills? Would he be better off somewhere else?
I don't know what is important to Cliff. I don't know the answers to those questions. I realize how unbelievably valuable he is to our team and I do believe he plays incredibly hard. I really expected there be more tools in his offensive tool box this year.
He’s no longer an engineering major.Cliff is an engineering student, very difficult to graduate in 3 yrs even with summer school. Course sequencing was always an issue as I remember, could be different now for me that was a long time ago, will he have his degree in May, know this is important to him, everybody talking about G league, not sure another year @RU isn’t better for him.
Can’t see Reeber coming back, think Mulcahy, palmqist and Hyatt all come back, Miller? Where’s he going to go, will they counsel him out, again his minutes are gone as are Reeber’s
No it’s about pure talent. Cliff is still raw offensively and tge League is ALL about scoring. Trace will flourish. He’s got moves and handle for days.
Do I recall correctly a CJ Group 4 Final, Franklin vs. a pretty good Middletown South team (a Benbrook (sp) their star?) and you guys and Roy had a pretty good game? One of the first times I read about Roy. When he ended up at Rutgers he became one of my (and everyone's) favorites. He had a game once at the RAC for the ages against WVU that I saw in person. WVU is never a bunch of shrinking violets...they wanted no part of Hinson. Great memories...GO RU!True story. Roy got cut from the freshman team at Franklin! (Even I made it ) but we were all shocked! But of course by our Senior year we were one of tge best in NJ.. Roy was dominant
beginning and middle of the season but not towards the endThat just shows you that they look at analytics and dont watch the games. Cliff couldnt defend the other teams big to save his life this year.
Times were different back thenTrue story. Roy got cut from the freshman team at Franklin! (Even I made it ) but we were all shocked! But of course by our Senior year we were one of tge best in NJ.. Roy was dominant
He's positionless in the NBA can play any position...except 5 probably..He can handle shoot or drive.TJD is going to struggle more than expected.
He's a 6'9" center (is he actually shorter?)
I obviously haven't watched him alot outside against RU and in BTT but he appears to have zero shooting ability or inclination. He didn't attempt a 3 all year.
The space in the paint is going to get small real quick in the NBA.
Thats just just part of it...defending the perimeter...if he can't score with short jumper or inside moves, he won't see the light of day.Ummmmm....no its not. The NBA requires big men to rotate out and defend the perimeter when needed. With the increased focus on the 3pt game, defense has evolved and teams that win learn to defend the arc. Gobert, Capela, Williams III and Robinson are examples of big men who do not have much offensive game but are starters paid well and thriving on NBA rosters.
Is Jerome James still in the NBA?@Greene Rice FIG get in here.
We're having detailed NBA discussions. It's a breathe of fresh air from arguing why the selection committee is dumb.
Robert WIlliams III shot chart - 191 Career gamesThats just just part of it...defending the perimeter...if he can't score with short jumper or inside moves, he won't see the light of day.

Mitch Robinson shot chart by seasonDo you even watch NBA games? Mitch Robinson can't hit an open shot from beyond a layup and is shooting 50% from the line on a playoff team. If you are a superior defender and a rim protector you can be an NBA center. This is not to say Cliff will definitely make it in the NBA but the athletic building blocks are there for at least the G-League.
I don’t know the trigger act, but they scrapped in the first two rows of section 118 on the team RU bench side. I was in either the 3rd or 4th row. That is a tough one. But I am thinking it was near the Rhode Island bench. I have a vision of him grabbing Hinson‘s shirt, but I might be mistaken.
Funny he took 2 short jumpers tonight and made both. Needs to be able to do that consistently....along with catching and just going up to dunk, shoot or rebound. He needs to be able to have a short jumper game, finish his layups and decrease misses on slam dunks. Wherever he can work on this best is where he should go.
Here's hoping it's here @ Rutgers.

Meanwhile we saw Cliff hit a few different types of shots tonight. Think he only had one maybe two dunks but silence from all the he has no moves folks.“cliff hasn’t developed” “cliff has regressed” “cliff has a lot to learn”….
If you have that to say about Cliff I can’t imagine what you’d have to say about Paul and why you haven’t said it..
He is not going to make the NBA I am talking about TJD and Cliff is not even good enough for the G leagueTJD is going to struggle more than expected.

He can’t do that and he’s not going to the NBA let alone the G leagueFunny he took 2 short jumpers tonight and made both. Needs to be able to do that consistently....along with catching and just going up to dunk, shoot or rebound.

I think Cliff returns for another year. The way the year ended has to left a bitter taste in his mouth. And he needs another year to work on his low post moves, ball handling and outside shot. My gut tells me he stays to finish what he set out to accomplish--Big Ten championship and NCAA bid.Plus he’ll have completed his degree. And I’m sure he wouldn’t mind being able to go home. Been a blessing to have Cliff, but if I were in his shoes, I don’t think I would come back.

This^^^^. I hope NO ONE - current RU players, RU coaches, RU BB recruits - makes any decisions on their futures for a couple of weeks, a least...until the end of this season gets much smaller in everyone's rear view mirror. I hope everyone quickly lets the promise of the first part of the year come back into their memories. GO RU!!!I think Cliff returns for another year.
