We start our firefighters at 46k.. and often don't get pay scale step increases. Is 46k too much money in your mind? I'm in my 8th year and work a crazy amount of overtime just to surpass 70k on the year.


We're also at the mercy of the people of the community 24 hours a day. We deal with screaming patients, psychopaths, death, and grieving families on the regular. And very often between the hours of midnight and 6am, which means we get dogsh*t sleep, in turn screwing with our home lives.

Not really (as I detailed in another post) Iowa’s coaching staff has put the team in great positions to win every game this year. However, they can’t make all the routine plays for their players. For example, when QB misses an easy throw, or a defender misses a key tackle, or the field goal kicker misses a makeable field goal that’s not on the head coach, but rather lapses in execution by the players. A change in the head coach wouldn’t change those particular plays.
