Sort of been my frustration all along with a few things in this administration. There are a few different areas that I agree with some of the concepts, but that the people enacting them are so incompetent or they make it political or also have some ideas that repulse me that get tied up in the things I agree with. Two big areas:
1. DOGE - I am all for eliminating fraud and abuse. I could even get behind trying to be more efficient and cutting some departments total numbers as long as it was done logically (having everyone cut X% of staff within X amt of time, etc). I think there is a certain amount of fraud and abuse that is somewhat inevitable when you're talking about government programs as big as some of them are. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to eliminate it, etc. But it does mean we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. And it also frustrated me how much things that they just disagree with policy were then shared as fraud and abuse. Because as of now, I don't remember all the big prosecutions of all the fraud they caught. I just know that a lot of investigations into Musk and his companies were closed or departments gutted. And I know a whole lot of data was given to people I don't personally trust, that have since done seemingly nothing productive with it.
2. MAHA. I actually like focusing on prevention, actual rehabilitation, and love eliminating some of the processed things that are already illegal in other countries. But I think the anti-vax stuff and cutting all the various research projects and gutting the CDC and going by gut feelings and then looking for evidence is all incredibly dangerous and damaging. I suspect that when the next administration comes in, some of these things will be restarted etc, but for a lot of projects and important research, it will be too late.
