Considering at the time we didn't realize we would be without Mike Brown, Jamon Hughes, Anthony Johnson, Jamar Cheney (after the LA Tech game), and Sherrod & Pegues for the LA Tech game?<div>
</div><div>Call me crazy, but I truly believe we could have been a 6-6 team if we don't lose those guys. I mean, look a the o-line that started the LA Tech game. We lost our LT after spring practice, then Sherrod had a foot infection for part of fall practice. I don't even know who played either tackle position that game, and I assume JC was starting his first game at center. We had no Pegues and I seem to remember his replacement, Jamayl Smith screwing up at least one punt return.</div>

That's a 6-6 season and another bowl game and there's no way you fire a football coach at Mississippi State who makes back to back bowl games. So thank you Adam Carlson. You are probably the most important MSU player of the last 10 years.
But that's kind of circular because we also have Croom to thank for having that awful kicker on the roster and for playing him 4 years without so much as thinking of looking for another kicker. Hell we seriously had punt/pass/kick contestants who could kick better than Carlson.riverdawg said:If Carlson doesn't duck hook a 35-yard field goal against Auburn we win that game 5-3, and if he doesn't miss an extra point and a 27-yard field goal against Kentucky, we win that game 17-14.
