Just to name a few. Obi is Jr so he should be pretty close to as good as he will be in college. Obi is a pure miss on a transfer, something that's been rare with K and transfers. Chase and Vrank should be in their early stages of college development but Chase is a MCDAA and should have some form of consistent role even just defensively with his height and athleticism. He was known for defense coming in. He only plays now to spell Marshall a minute here or there or if we're in foul trouble. Vrank was recruited as a project and that makes sense. What a concept, getting more than 1 post player in a class. The problem is the equation for this year. Duke knew what they had in Obi (not the answer), and you knew from day 1 that marshall was not going to be as good as his brothers and should just be a role player at most so duke should have been preparing for this season while recruiting 2-3 years ago. Also, it was clear okafor was 1 and done so no one thought he would be here this year. Wouldn't have been difficult to get a capable center with jahlil or even the year before and let him have time to develop.
Simple questions. Are you happy with the center position? Do you think duke has a good chance at 1 or 2 seed and the ability to win a championship with Marshall playing 30+ minutes per game? When Amile comes back would you play Amile and Marshall together or separately more? Should duke have recruited more post players the last 3-4 classes?
Poeltl? The unranked and unknown Austrian center hardly anyone had heard of and whose 9.1ppg as a freshman was a huge surprise? Yeah, shucks, how'd we miss on him?
Hammons who grew up an hour and a half away from Purdue and was ranked as high as #66 (19th at his position!) by one recruiting service? Geez, way to drop the ball, K!
Brimah? The unranked, unheralded, rail thin Brimah who entered college? What were we thinking, not landing him?!?!?
Diamond Stone, who supposedly had some academic issues?
Tarczewski, long considered a KU lean?
Kennedy, who has been ineligible in his time at SMU due to academics?
Damian Jones and maybe Tarczewski are the only guys on your list who are remotely reasonable, and even then, you'd have to assume offering them means we automatically get them.
Fernandez who averaged just over one ppg as a redshirt freshman at Valpo?
The idea that you have any credibility in criticizing K's recruiting is idiotic.
Obi was a great practice player for Jah to go up against last year. If that's the best thing he ever does at Duke, I'll take it.
Marshall is a McDAA playing in his 5th year of college. Chase is a McDAA who is a freshman in college.
Are we allowed to be fine with any player who isn't the best at his position in the entire country? If not, I guess I'm not happy with any of our players, and haven't been since Nolan was 1st team AA in '11. If we are allowed to be okay with such inferior players, yes, I'm happy with Marshall and pleased with how much he has improved.
You're acting as if we're thinking he's the #1 overall pick in the draft b/c he had a perfect shooting night and scored a career high of 18 in our last game. You're being a killjoy and insulting the intelligence of everyone on the board.
