Early thoughts Kings Mountain @ Crest

Seems like Crest is playing better and better every week. Looks like there defense has improved tremendously since the beginning of the year should be a great game. It will be the high powered Crest offense against the solid KM defense should be a great one.
From seeing both teams play I see one thing that will be the biggest difference. The KM DL be the Crest OL. Other than that I see a lot of similarities. Tater was running for his life again Burns and if the OL hasn’t REALLY stepped it up, I just think it’ll be too much. Good luck to both teams!
I agree! If he has any time to throw though there could be problems but I have a hard time seeing that happening right now.
Going to be a tough matchup for Crest.our weakness is their strengths. Tater will run for his life at times.
The D line is improved for Crest but it’s still very much a work in progress. We’ll need our A game and luck to try and stay in it.

I really believe KM is the team to beat in the 3A west. With that said Crest has the athletes to keep it close but will need some things to go their way. In a CC rival game anything can happen.
Crest can't have empty possessions. KM can limit Crest opportunities with their running game so you have to get points when you can.
I'll mimic what everyone else is saying. KM's defensive line will dominate all night. The only way Crest wins this game is by creating big splash plays. I don't see long sustained drives being possible for Crest. Luckily, Crest has the QB/WR combo to do it. It's just going to be difficult.
It still may end up being a good game if crest can do decent against the run.
I am not sure why everyone is judging our secondary from the Shelby game. First game we tried to two platoon the secondary guys and it didn’t work. The guys who started last year are back starting on defense and we have been fine with the exception of a busted coverage here and there. We have four secondary guys who will all play college football somewhere and our middle linebacker play has improved. Crest will make some plays here and there but overall we will be fine. Littlejohn had been outstanding at QB. His passing has really opened the offense up. This KM team has been playing at another level the last few weeks. I think our kids and coaches will definitely be motivated to play well on Crest’s Senior night.
Crest is playing really well the last few weeks. The Chargers seem to peaking at the right time. Not buying the Lou Holtz song and dance of “we have no chance of we have to play perfect just to have a chance” yada yada yada. I remember the 2019 game where we were heavily favored and got our butt kicked at Crest on senior night. Charger Pride is real and this is a county game. The Charger coach knows this is a chance to make an impression in the county with the Charger faithful. Crest will come to play and go all out with both barrels in this game.
p.s. I am also expecting a pretty good jv game between the two teams. The jv game is for the conference championship also. KM jv’s are 8-0 and Crest jv’s are 8-1 and undefeated in conference. Crest, KM, Ashbrook, and South Point all have really good jv teams.

^ No one has done that. You’re sort of wishy washy. You’re constantly letting us all know that KM has no weaknesses and that they’re on all cylinders and bla bla bla.

I’ve never said that KM has NO weaknesses. I just disagree at what that particular weakness is. Every team has areas they can improve. The Mountaineers are playing well overall. We are favored but Crest is playing well also and more than capable. I agree that on paper we are not a good matchup for Crest this year. That’s on paper. I just do not take anything for granted because as a KM fan/alum we have been burned multiple times in the past looking ahead. Crest always has our respect on the field.
I agree with mill village midget here, probably 17 or more. I expect the game to be high scoring on both sides, but moreso KM.
I’m too tall to be a midget and I haven’t lived in the mill village sense the 70’s. I do have kinda short arms though.
Shelby's defense couldn't hold water, much less a functional offense in 3A or 4A. And they dont even know if they can hold anything functional in 2A yet either.I know everyone is picking KM to win. Upsets do happen. Ask Shelby.
Exactly, I wouldn’t consider that an upset. I think people were more so surprised Crest came back in that game after being down by a lot.
Possibly if we start out slow..1st quarters haven’t been good to us in the last 4 games.. if Crest starts slow Friday nite we can go to the house at halftime!!
I think this will be a CLOSE game, being that it is a COUNTY GAME and that there a lot on the LINE for BOTH TEAMS.

KM should win big vs against a glorified Crest JV team full of 9th & 10th graders.
KM will dominate the trenches, but the Crest QB Huskey and WRs give em a glimmer of hope to score enough points to keep it respectable. That's probably false hope.

This Crest team is much better now than they were in the first five games of season. We will need to bring our ‘A’ game up highway 74 today.
