I mean anyone paying attention to week 1 would think ED by a bundle. Princeton should bounce back and keep it kinda close.
27-13 ED.

IMO, this will be a close game that could go either way. Both teams like to play physical, hard nosed football. Possessions will be at a premium. ED had better be prepared for a big, physical offensive line that could pose big problems.

This game is a toss up.

Still unsure how Princeton lost so badly to Smithfield-Selma. 35-0? ( ok I see SSS actually went 8-4 in 2021 but still, Princeton smoked them last year )

I saw a score of 35-21. Still a shocker. SSS on the rise I think. Simmons had Princeton by only 5

They also had him the last two times these two teams played and Princeton came away with two tough, close wins.

Taking nothing away from Coach Holley, but Coach Gaster at Princeton has done a phenomenal job building that program especially considering moving from 1A to 2A.

EDs strength is in the skill positions. The question marks are up front on both sides of the ball. That is where Princeton has the advantage and might be enough to pull out a win.

Princeton had good size last year when WRH beat them in the Eastern final. I was so glad I went to that game. We didn't have the best views as we were standing by the fence next to the visitor stands. But execution by WRH's offensive line was just phenomenal. Kanye Roberts was too. Together they just wore them down in the later part of the game. Much as they did to NE when they beat them. @dagoob still seems to be bitter about that. Heck WRH knocked us ( West Craven) out of the playoffs last year. Honestly I was just glad to have a home playoff game and have WRH there to play. Since I met Dogs79 and olddog77 and Merle and Don it's what I had hoped for. You can't let it get to you. But ED will execute like WRH and those big guys better be ready early in the season. That will be key how early this game is and who is in shape the best.

They do have a good fg kicker as always. Princeton will be tough though. But not tough enough this year. This could be the year for ed. East Duplin by 17

This game will be closer than what a lot of you guys are thinking. Princeton and ED play the same style of football. SSS was not a good matchup for Princeton this year. This game will be a test of wills and the more physical team will win. Princeton will want to get the taste of last week out of their mouth and will be eager to prove everyone wrong, plus they are at home.

ED is certainly capable and everyone knows I am partial to the Duplin County schools, but this is a huge test for the Panthers IMO. As I said, game is a toss up. Last two meetings were both one score games decided in the final minutes and I really believe this one will be as well.

I tend to agree with you that this game will be close. The only thing is most of the guys from ED have play against them especially on defense. Think like 10 of the guys starting on D play there last year. If the Oline can play average then ED should be fine. Plus think ED offence may surprise some people this year in the way they go about things. Anyway should be a good one.

First off, hats off to Princeton. They played their tail off and were red hot right out of the gate. Very well coached and prepared. They had us 14-0 very early. Also, facilities were above par. The field looked great.

Both teams played well enough to win tonight. Both teams had opportunities to seal a win including a dropped interception on the final drive. One team capitalized and the other was simply overpowered. Princeton’s OLine had great work ethic and was double the size of ED’s pound for pound.

As far as my Panthers go, I couldn’t be prouder. It would have been nice to win, yes. But these young men got punched in the mouth early and showed the resilience to fight back and lead the game right to the end. The Panthers will be fine and will only get better. #3 Gaby is a pure tee monster at RB. The biggest surprise was the passing game for the Panthers. I’m sure our QB had 125+ yards throwing tonight. That kept us in the game. We had our chances to win tonight, but a botched fake punt attempt and a dropped interception helped seal our fate.

I usually don’t do this, simply because I don’t like excuses….but the refs DID NOT help us at all this evening. Multiple calls were missed but the biggest blunder came on a Princeton 4th down play late in the 4th quarter THAT WAS SHORT of the line to gain, but was called a first down anyways. The whole team saw it and a ref (not the white hat) even motioned that it was ED’s ball. After about 2 minutes of discussion, the call was magically changed and Princeton went on to score.

Like I said earlier, nothing to hang your head over as a Panther. Learn from this and move on to the next one. Go Panthers!

ED was outsized. They outplayed Princeton and led by 2 scores the majority of the game. When the refs gave Princeton the first down ( even measured and everyone saw they didn't make it ) that was the turning point. Had they been fair we would have Won by at least 6!!!!!!!

Nope no excuse they beat our ***. On to next week. ED will be fine.
Sorry oldway, they DID NOT beat our ***, they wore us down with their size but they beat No one's ***!! Not only that, I had a Preacher friend on the Princeton side that said there was bad officiating tonight.
