Apparently she missed Bucky's demonstration, "How to get arrested in Madison".

1. I don't care who you are that is disturbing to watch.
2. I'm not sure of the background. Obviously, the recorder got there after the initial interaction that gave cause for the take down. So, I'm not sure what the issue was.
3. I'd like to beat the recorder's *** for filming it in portrait mode. How hard is it to turn the damn phone 90°? I can see lots of sky. Lots of the ground. But nothing to the sides. Doofus.

In regards to your #3, the guy recording was too busy running his mouth to think.

Weird. Resist a cop and you get in trouble and make it worse? No way. So weird how I never have these issues.

Yeah, I know. Dad was a Cop his whole life and always told me if pulled over...just do what you are asked, without question.

I've never had an issue either. Huh?

Before people criticize Police, remember, the weapons they carry are NOT for our protection, it's for THEIR protection...and...the Officer has every right to go home safely to his waiting family. They don't want trouble anymore than anyone else.

I recently had an experience where I have deeper respect for what police go thru and how much they are needed to be allowed to do their job, I had a disturbance by where I live like at 3 in the morning and it was ongoing and so I finally called the police (1st time ever called police in my life), one police officer shows up in 5 mins and confronts 5 wasted. potentially violent young adults and was able to handle the problem. That takes alot of bravery, without police to maintain order things would turn very untenable in a hurry. Resisting arrest is just a bad idea, these officers dont know what kind of weapons one might have etc, and they have a job to do.

"According to a Madison police incident report, police arrested 18 year old Genele Laird outside East Towne Mall just after 5 Tuesday night.

Mall security says Laird confronted an employee at the Taco Bell in the food court and claimed her phone had been stolen. Police say she made threats to the employee and showed a knife. Police say she spit in their face and tried to kick and scratch them during the arrest.

The video seen by NBC15 shows two officers using force to take Laird down onto a sidewalk and curb outside a mall entrance. They are struggling to handcuff her. During the incident one officer knees and punches Laird in her side several times . The other officer holds her head down on the sidewalk at one point. The video shows an officer using a taser multiple times on Laird's legs.

Two more officers arrive and the four men hold Laird down and eventually handcuff her and take her into custody.

The arresting officers say Laird spit on at least one of them. Madison Police say the officers were taken to a hospital to be checked out."

I don't know police protocol, so I don't know if the punches to her ribs followed protocol or not. I would guess if she was threatening someone with a knife, she deserved an *** kicking. Everything else looked like it would follow protocol for someone that showed a knife and threatened someone in the mall.

Exactly. Why is it that people feel like they are going to win if they act up in front of cops? Just shut up and do what they tell you to do, and in almost all cases, you'll be fine. Sure, there are cops that are dirty cops, but the vast majority aren't going to do this sort of thing if you just remain calm and quiet. It reminds me of the Chris Rock video of how to not get your *** kicked by the police.

When police are trying to put handcuffs on you, and you resist their efforts to do so, you up the ante and bad things will happen.

Those two guys used accepted and basic taught physical tactics that are taught to overcome physical resistance. Oh, and they were way more gentile then they needed to be.

The moment you refuse to allow me to handcuff you, you will hit the ground before you know what happened. Then the cuffs are on before you can react. When you are gentle you just move the struggle to the ground and the fight to get the cuffs on continues.

My very first arrest of a female went bad. I was hesitant to use force because it was a woman. Got my eyeball gouged by a finger from a wailing arm. Learned real quick from there and I don't play no more.

Oh, and Madison is full of idiots. Hate that town.

I've always found that if you treat the officer respectfully and do what they ask, there usually aren't any problems. There are exceptions, but I'd be extra careful with a short cop and/or a female cop. It's probably in your best interest to be even nicer to them.

Just another "two wrongs don't make a right" video. She shouldn't be doing what she was doing, sounds like she's a nutjob. Meanwhile, two grown men don't need to punch, knee and taze a woman in order to get her cuffed.

You two burly fellows from the department of "we have no gym and further you're not even allowed to work out" or what? Her hands are behind her back and there's two of you. Hold her arms and get the cuffs on, what kind of little ***** are you? You have another grown man helping you, and you gotta punch a woman in the ribs to control an arm that's already behind her back? I don't think you do, I think you lost your temper and you just wanna punch her.

I say again, if you can't keep your temper when somebody acts like an *******, then being a cop is not for you. That's preeeeetty much what being a cop is, it's your job to deal with the ******** of society.

She has no reason to complain because she resisted a lawful order. I have no sympathy for her, On the other hand, the ***** cop kneeing her and punching her while his partner held her arms behind her back when she was on the ground should go back to police school. The taser shots were totally unnecessary IMO

Who lost their temper????? The person armed with a knife and spit in the face of the officer maybe. I don't know about Wisconsin, but in Nebraska, that's assault with a bodily fluid, and that is a felony.

Its obvious that the first officer is doing nothing but holding her until he gets help, and is trying to keep his face where he can't be spit on again. He's also probably trying to keep her hands away from the knife, because if she gets a hand free, and gets the knife, then it is a deadly force situation. He had every right to lift her off the ground, bury his head into her back, and body slam her at that point.

Two grown men don't need to punch, knee, and tase a woman to get her cuffed? You know this how? You've physically placed how many resisting females into handcuffs? I personally can't stand having to place cuffs on a combative/resisting female. It just flat out sucks and is a pain in the ***. Flailing, scratching, biting, squirming, etc, etc. I'd rather deal with a man bigger and stronger than me than a female, and I'm not alone in that. Your statement is exactly why I got eye gouged. Underestimation.

She decided to resist. 'Fight or flight' kicked in. That means an adrenaline rush, which means your strength levels increases, your pain tolerance increases, and your energy increases, thus your ability to resist increases. When that happens then don't expect it to be pretty. Don't believe me about the strength? Google "boy lifts car" or "girl lifts car" or "woman lifts car" to see the examples of adrenaline dump strength.

I didn't know about the spitting and the knife when I posted last night. The levels of acceptable force just went up, and those guys took it easy on her.

Thank you for providing a law enforcement perspective here. Bottom line is listen to cops and stuff like this won't happen. If you choose to be difficult, don't be surprised when things get physical.

Oh, you got me, since I'm not a cop it's not longer true that two men are far stronger than one woman. My lack of cuffing experience has rendered untrue this fact of human biology.

You don't lift a car with one arm when the arm is pinned behind your back. 'Fight or flight kicked in' is right. They had her well enough to get it done, but they got pissed off and added a free lesson to it. Is what it is. She sucks at life and they could have done it better.

What AD said is absolutely spot on. You responded sarcastically, but you really have no idea what you don't know. You really don't have a clue how these usually go. Putting cuffs on a resisting person, no matter how small or weak, is often a dirty job. I am not a real big guy, and I guarantee you that I could resist a whole lot longer than she did if you and three of your coolest friends felt like cuffing me.

I use a metaphor when talking about stuff like this when someone is questioning why the cops did what they did. I tell them it is like when somebody who watches MMA all the time and took a karate class when they were ten tells the tv that the world class fighter in the cage is an idiot because he failed to apply a hold or take the guy down when he had the chance. The guy criticizing has never been punched in the face in his life, yet is perfectly qualified to tell somebody that does this for a living how much they suck at their job. In the cuffing scenario I mentioned earlier, I am gonna punch you and kick you in the groin if I get the chance. I will also probably bite anyones hands that get near my mouth. I will bite whatever body part gets near my mouth. Still feel like cuffing me is easy?

Why was she detained in the first place. I missed it. I have a lot of friends who are cops. The initial part of the video is missing. Why was she in that position.

I have trained with a close to 400 pound guy who played tackle for the Mavs and Beef. He is a physical freak. I had him in a guillotine choke once and he picked me up seven feet in the air like I was a ragdoll. I could have choked him out, but he would have crushed me on re-entry.
