Are there any posters from Ronda or Elkin with an opinion on this game?

Does East pee in their pants and keep Elkin in it and allow them a chance to win or does East play sound football and take care of business?

I have not seen Elkin play this year and I know their record is not good, however I also know they have played better teams than East. What do the Elks have?

For the record, some Elk meat raw would be good on Friday night.

Hate to say it but I doubt this game will be close. The Elks might play them tough the first half.

I think EW wins but would worry about a point spread with it being a rivalry game. If we see EW continue to reduce the turnovers they could be really good. Until recent EW had numbers and Elkin had coaches, it may take sometime to tell but I think times have changed.

Games between these two often times have a slow start, with the rightful winner coming out on top. With that said; this could also be East Wilkes largest point spread of the season.

Not seen Elkin play at all, just a wild guess I'm going to say EW by 28. The EW defense has really surprised me this year. And I think they will be too much for the Elks to be able to do much. Hope to see a good and healthy game for both sides. Good luck to all.

I have seen East hang tough in years they should not have only to have the Elks win in the in. Great point by LabaR.

East has played some nasty D this year and if that continues then all should be good on Friday night. They seem to trust one another and play their position. There will be a lot of emotion so I say Elkin keeps it close with East winning pulling away late. 28 - 7.

Elkin guys what's going on with this years team. I listened to the Starmount game and sounded like they could play the first half but the second half was a different story. Do they lack the athletes or is it just a down year overall?

Tyler Boles is currently enrolled at Wilkes Central from what I understand. Not sure if he can play or not.

Here is why this game is important to East Wilkes. The two teams began playing each other in 1975. From 1975 - 1986 this was a legitimate rivialry with Elkin holding a 6 to 5 advantage. Since that point it has been all Elkin. Since 1987 East Wilkes has won 4 times. That is an average of one win every 7 years.

Tonight should begin a run of possibly 4 straight wins in the series for the Cards. The program is loaded and if they stay hungry and humble good things are going to happen in Ronda.

Cardinal wins:
1980
1981
1983
1984
1986
1995

I have heard they will still be 1AA.

One opposing coach said if East was 1A he thought they would win the state.

Boles got thrown off the team for attitude reasons. He played the opener and got a TD and had 90+ kickoff return against West Caldwell but during week 2 he was gone. Heard a couple of reasons why but I'm not much for gossiping so I'll keep them off here. He went back to Wilkes Central where he grew up at but he lives in North's district so he has to sit a year. That was a mistake for North Wilkes because he would have been their star and carried them for the next few years. The new kid's alright but no Boles. I could see North Wilkes having won 3 games if Boles was still there (South, Forbush, Elkin.) If he gets over the sillyness he will be a beast at Central the next 2 years.

As for the E Wilkes-Elkin game, I see East winning due to it being their year but how much is a ? mark.

Elkin's a first half team. The FB is really good, if he played for Starmount or East he would be one of the best RB's around tied with W Central's kid. Their QB isn't bad either and they have a decent receiver. They lost their best Athlete to Walkertown though so that hurt them a lot. Their D isn't the best though. They played well on Monday vs North Wilkes but besides Forbush that's the only time they held a team to less than 30.

2nd half they fall apart. It took us a matter of seconds at the start of the 3rd quarter to cause a turnover and score, the game was over after that. MA and Starmount had epic second half's like that as well. Hell even North Wilkes started to come back they just lacked time to fully do it.

Elkin needs to play a full game to even hang in with East. If they are going to do it then they need to this week for morale purposes. However I think East is too talented for Elkin to hang on with.

East should score whatever they please here.

not sure i'd go that far, the SMC and Plymouth would have something to say about that, but East would be in the discussion for sure.

I agree with that about the SMC. Both 1A and 1AA run through that league. One of the best conferences in the state year in and year out regardless of the level.

East Wilkes looked like they were trying to run SMC type offense last year when we played them in the first round. Big line and pound the rock. They just weren't there yet last year. Looking good this year so far. Keep pounding.
