No doubt. Playing time is going to be hard to come by....but that's a good problem as long as egos are managed. Big pickup for them.

freeze's uptempo offensive (as i'm sure you realize) puts a lot of pressure on the defense...even when its working, not to mention if it goes 3 and out, so by design and necessity we will need a number of dlinemen to rotate. i think there will be plenty of opportunity for playing time.

When the rest of the SEC figures out Freeze's gimmick offense, you'll be hating on Beaver Teeth as much as you did Orgeron in 2007 and Nutt in 2011.

We are not very deep on DT's. We seem to be stacking up DE's

We need ED for interior depth with Pena graduating. Hooks and Daniel will both see lots of playing time. Gross just doesn't have the size to be your main interior presense.

Would that be the same way everyone figured out Mullen's offense?

If so, I will agree with you. He will be run out on a rail.

perhaps but in the meantime, i'll enjoy it. and who knows,

observing the nfl lately it looks like that "gimmick offense" might actuall be the wave of the future. seems to work in similar fashion for several nfl teams.

That's the kicker that most don't realize about the hurry-up stuff. I look at it sometimes and wonder how it's ever stopped. I remember Malzahn's offense being the same way. But that's just it, it does put the opponent's defense on the field for longer periods of time. That's why sometimes it seems like it just completely shuts down.

I think that really hurt Ole Miss in the Texas A&M game, it seemed there was no way you could lose that one, especially with all their turnovers. But at the end, OM got no pressure on Manziel and just tired out.

At the end of the day, it's still all about the jimmys and joes. Croom's offense would have worked had he had the right personnel. Execution.

i don't really think there's anything wrong with mullen's

offense, or freeze's. the simple fact is that with good players you can run whatever. saban's conventional traditional offense seems to work pretty well for him and everybody understands it perfectly well. heck on the other side of the ball t nix looked like a great dcoor with all that nfl talent. its the jimmy's and joe's as they say.

He was being an idiot, so i just turned it back around on him. If Freeze brings in a recruiting class like this one for a couple of more years, he can run any offense he wants and will be successful with it.

Just like Auburn? Most rational people know that you're awesome recruiting will likely suffer the same fate.

Auburn got rid of Malzahn, and their DC was a joke. With Malzahn and a good DC they will be back quickly if they recruit. Coach 5-19 looked like Coach 5-19 when he got rid of the gimmick offense guru.

I don't see the hurry up going away. The only defensive adjustment to beat it is to overpower the opponent on early downs or simply have an athlete make a great defensive play to throw it off schedule. Oregon has been killing teams with it for years, and getting them off schedule is the only way to stop it. Three teams in the West run it now, and if they all recruit well, all will have success with it.
