r -Sustained success is tough for either of the Mississippi schools.
Where Mississippi State is seen as treading water, winning its fair share of games without a truly signature win, Ole Miss has emerged as the hot topic, an up-and-coming program that's aiming higher than simply winning its state.
The writer changes criteria mid-sentence; from winning a signature game to "emerging a the hot topic".
Squeaking by Vandy that got ***-raped by USCe? Beating Texas that got ***-raped by BYU the week before. Neither USCe nor BYU appear to be all-world either.
Mullen's Georgia, Florida and Michigan wins top both of those. Rebs' flavor of the week hype will fade considerably after Bama smacks them around.
IF the Rebel-Bear-Sharks beat Bama then I will tip my cap and give them full credit. NO credit for "making it interesting".
Appearance fails to get mentioned. But, that co-west championship doesn't. Anyone that can't see that this article is slighted is blind. There is a lot of truth, but it's written with a slant.
That co western champion ole miss team would have killed the west division winner by default MSU TEAM. And I mean not even close. Ole miss maybe the only team to go 7-1 without going to Atlanta. that I call is bad luck.
The year MSU BEAT GEORGIA AND FLORIDA was those 2 perspective schools worst football teams in forever. Georgia was 6-6 and Florida as 7-5. I will bet you now that Vandy and Texas finish better than that.
To be fair, the media was all up on our jocks in 2010/2011 too, and Ole Miss is riding their individual wave. Plus the fact that Mullen's name came up in every single coaching search there was, and Freeze is pretty much known to be an Ole Miss guy.
And no, Ole Miss hasn't beaten anybody. They aren't that great. They are just riding a little momentum.
The series is tied 13-13 since 1987.Too lazy to look it up, but isn't our record against UM about even since 1980 or so? Neither one of us has much to crow about, football wise. But hey, at least we've BEEN to the SECCG. Did I just crow?
Ok, wrong.
