This is next level hype train.
Realistically you can’t be putting RU ahead of Wisc or PSU at this point.
The rest of the league you can make arguements. But I don’t see a reasonable argument, even from the most optimistic fan, for putting us any higher than 5th

For the most part, this is the kind of "system" that goes on week after week. Rise and fall.
The irony is that we moved up from #7 to #3 on a bye week! Teams that were above us performed poorly even if they won while teams we handled performed much higher than expected.
May well drop after our next game, but being in the conversation is awesome. This has to really piss off a lot of the doom and gloom guys.

Sure you can. Wisconsin is 5-3 and lost their starting quarterback.
We were at #4 in this last week so moved up 1 spot.
This is kinda silly but don’t mind that some are giving us respect

Great publicity for Rutgers. I still say Gameday would’ve been there for Ohio State/Rutgers if the game was on the ESPN app.

Wisconsin is 5-3, and lost their starting quarterback and running back, key reasons why they won.
We’re 6-2, so there is a reasonable explanation that describes why we’re better today.

I love our fanbase, National media gives us props and rather than just enjoy it we have some fans who feel the need to fact check them in order to prove they're wrong. We truly are NJ's team.
Listen the ranking is silly. Do you REALLY think we are better than that school In Pennsylvania? Vegas would have us as +2TD dogs to them right now and rightly so.
With that said I am very very happy with the success so far. I wouldn’t be surprised if we at least keep it competitive against OSU and Pedd and maybe steal one/two against the turtles and iowa.
This is amazing progress.
But we are not the third best team in the Big10 right now. That’s just being realistic not pessimistic.
In fact I am very hopeful about this program. I think the only thing keeping us back from getting to the “next level” is Gavin’s pass game. AND considering the HUGE progress he has made compared to last year I fully expect him to get there - if not this year than next. And once that happens - this offense will be MUCH better (and that will lift the team as a whole). I have no reason to believe this won’t occur. Just a matter of how soon

This type of hype always means we lose our next game. This is literally the worst case scenario.
Yeah, if we lose to Ohio State, this article will be the reason why. There would be no other possible explanation.
Power rankings are how teams are playing at this point in time and not based on their body of work. Plus what is the value in arguing against a neutral 3rd party giving us props and hyping us up? When you gain tempest you also gain the benefit of the doubt. Enjoy the free positive press.
And when we lose to Penn state by 20 … we’ll just chalk that up to what exactly
exactly- I would think if we were playing Wisc this week, we would be favored. It will be interesting after the OSU game what the thoughts would be against Iowa.
I do question us being over PSU though. That doesn't make much sense.
Penn state looked like hot garbage against Indiana. I was told their QB is a 5 star. Kid didn’t look ready for prime time. Our D should just come out swarming against them . Quick mouth punch.
My guess it is an effort by ESPN to say the Big Ten is top-heavy and there is nothing after Ohio State and Michigan. It is a purposeful downgrading of Penn State.
why does title say ESPN deal with it when the rankings are Yahoo? ESPN Game Day was not coming here for OSU even if the game was on ESPN....they will be covering the UM -OSU game, so they are not going to put OSU on gameday for 3 times in a season..(there not an SEC school) ..also most likely going to PSU-UM and also OSU-UM
It’s based on the current point in the season. And yes we are better than them right now on a neutral field.
The good thing is, the last 4 games will prove where the team stands. There are no patsies in there, although Maryland seems to be doing a Maryland and sinking. A good chance for a team to show what it's made of.
