We are so squeamish when discussing race. Here's a guy who opens up about what many in the black community think about who is and isn't black enough based on their behavior, family background, academic success, etc and he gets silenced. It could have opened up a genuine conversation, as opposed to a monologue, about race and expectations and all sorts of issues that might prompt intelligent, reasoned opinions. But, because so many Americans get offended at the slightest comment, ESPN decides to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. Parker could have been challenged on his stereotypical views of African Americans but I guess now he'll just have to apologize to get his gig back.
