AND he only played in 83 games, because Freshmen were ineligible back then, and the seasons were shorter. He averaged 44 points per game, without a 3 point line.

But, yeah, we only think he was good because he died young.

aren't Russell's numbers terribly inflated because he played against inferior white players?

it's an unfortunate double standard but it is what it is. Bill Russell, a black player, gets included as one of the best ever. Bob Pettite, a white player in a predominately white NBA, does not. But for the sake of ending this argument I will concede in defeat and accept Bob Pettite as one of the greatest players of all time. Good game HD6.

is one of the dumbest things I have ever read on this board. And I mean ever.

You do realize this is the same guy that said today that nobody on this message board has watched even HALF of the amount of golf on TV that he has? He's on fire today.

They have 4 Final Fours, 20 tournament appearances, 10 Conference Championships, and four of the greatest players in college basketball history played there.

college players anyway. Chris Jackson isn't one of the greatest NBA players so I don't know how this got turned into an NBA argument. Bob Pettite played at LSU from 1952-54. College basketball wasn't fully integrated for another 10 years.

people say to make yourself look better? "3 points: 1. very few on here have watched even half as much golf as I have. 2. I don't need to know your golfing habits. I know mine. 3. Bay Hill is hardly the same tournament as The Masters. It's quite a bit more comfortable atmosphere for Tiger. Idiot."

I was really board and checked out the LSU message board on who they want as their next coach and its hilarious. Names include:

Tim Floyd
Bruce Pearl
Scott Drew
Buzz Williams

Johnny Jones
Capel and Collins from Duke
