If Stoops needed to be fired for cause, why would the game tomorrow even matter?

Hysteria around here is silly. He's going nowhere this year or next regardless as to what some nobody reporter thinks.
I have no idea about what rumors are true but let me explain the thinking that many are confused about. The rumored offense is not something that a coach would necessarily be fired for but it is enough to invoke the "for cause" clause if they want to. The "want to" is the important part. UK may want to fire him because of the performance of the team but are holding off due to the large buyout. This rumored offense is merely an excuse to pull the trigger without paying him $12 million. Yep, it is kind if crappy but that is the way the world works. Bottom line is: the more you have to lose, the more you need to mind your P's and Q's.

There isn't really a "morals clause" in Stoops' contract. Now, if he did what Petrino did, that would certainly fall under the "violation of rules of the university" clause.

But I'm guessing this is bogus, aside from the fact that he might get canned after the game if UK loses.

I'm just glad we didn't hire a person of Petrino's character.

Time to find a new crutch argument Stoops Troops
Yeah the characters so bad that it will beat us by 60+ in November, has a top 5 team and will likely make the playoffs. Such terrible character.

Rich Brooks in town tonight is talking up Stoops and reminding the press that UK fans were selling Fire Brooks t-shirts at CW. Don't you think he would have heard something from Barney if a dismissal was imminent?
Not necessarily. I kind of doubt Rich and Mitch even talk with how pissed Rich was when he left.

As noted above, go to the Louisville board. Mods would likely delete any mention of what was discussed yday.
isn't this what we always complain about UNC's board and UL's board...deleting negative views, even from within? where's Steelers?

Whether firing stoops is the right move or not---- I find it hard to believe Mitch would pull the trigger after tomorrow's game! Nothing Mitch has done in the last several years would support such an act/firing!

Admittedly, I have no sources and I do not know of this rumor!

I agree. If it was a for cause issue, the game tomorrow would be irrelevant.

I'm calling BS on this rumor. No way Stoops is fired after the game. You guys really trust a no name reporter on this. A rumor is easier to believe if want to believe it's true. BTW him and his family are still a family. Jones was talking on his radio show about seeing them out recently.

CMS has something in common with Coach Billy G?
Funny, I remember some genius poster mentioning this just this week and getting some major pushback on it...

(Hint: it was me.)

(Another Hint: this is all being said in jest.)

Actually said this on HOB, so some of you might not have seen it. Didn't consider that possibility.

I don't see how cheating on your wife represents a fireable offense or especially "cause" that will void a contract. Hell, do you have any idea what percentage of these coaches have their little trysts? Not to mention top administrators, board of trustee types. I mean, if they all got fired for that. A lot of powerful and successful men tend to do that. It has to do with ego and well they have the opportunities. Maybe it was something worse than simple adultry.

One question.

Did you support the Petrino decision not to pursue?

My thing is this... If what this rumor is about is bad enough that it makes cause for termination then why does the outcome of the game tomorrow even matter? Fire him already, win, lose or draw. Doesn't make sense.

There is some info on the UL Rivals Board. The one poster who speaks about the "for cause" contractual clause has been consistently spot on for years.
