One thing that's being missed here is that if any of this stuff were true Stoops would be removed immediately, not after the game or next week or at season's end. What this is, is a campaign by some folks to get around paying him the buy out based on a morals clause of some kind. In the mean time UK fans resort to Chinese water torture.

I hope they go after a bigger name than Kiffin but since Barnhart is making the decisions, Kiffin might be a decent choice.

The Tennessee site hasn't reported anything, a fan on their message board posted the same thing that others have posted here. The "rumors" were posted here before anywhere else, because of the nature of the situation we have been more prudent & exercised more scrutiny in terms of what stays up and what comes down. This post is still up so don't let anyone tell you this is North Korea.

I havent blamed you guys for deleting anything. I absolutely accepted your explanation on HOB, been down this road myself in much darker times.

And you are correct about the report vs poster. I will edit.

all good, just making sure people are clear on the facts. I have been extremely lenient when it comes to moderating policy over the past year to the point where I have gotten more complaints about "letting stuff go" than I have complaints about posts that 'shouldn't be up'

I don't think you can link the allegations/rumors to the teams lack of performance. If it was known in the locker room to be true, the story would have broken weeks ago.

I don't know whether it's true or not, but I did get a text message from a family member last weekend telling me the exact same thing. I blew it off because he's a UL fan and I thought he was just effing with me. Talked to him this morning and he said he heard it at the country club he's a member of here in Lex. Don't know what it all means but apparently it's been out there for awhile.

The people who run this site do a great job of removing the proper amount of trash and letting other stuff stay. It is a fine line and I think they balance it amazingly.

The fact JRowland just posted in this thread is what makes me believe something must be true. I hope it is not

So you think that if the rumor is true, that would be the cause of the team looking bad?

Not necessarily this rumor but I think something has happened...again. Last year Boom Williams tore the team apart when he quit the team and came back. This year, who knows? But it shows me that Stoops has lost the team for one reason or another.

I'm not a source and don't have any but this or a similar rumor was told to me Monday of this week by someone who is a fan and hoped it wasn't true. I have no idea of the veracity of what I was told but it was a sober, serious, professional person who I've not known to deal in bs. He admitted he could only rely on who told him - he had no independent info. So there's a whole lot of nothing said other than the rumor has been out awhile for it to finally make it to me. Lol.

I don't see how cheating on your wife represents a fireable offense or especially "cause" that will void a contract. Hell, do you have any idea what percentage of these coaches have their little trysts?

There's a difference between cheating with a random person and cheating with a University student or University employee working under you (especially if it leads to pregnancy).

I don't know if the rumors are true, but IF the worst of what I've heard is true, he'll be gone.

I could add a couple of facts I was told but again not knowing the truth of it would hate to help identify someone innocent and hurt them if this is not true... or even if it is.

Stoops' agent has hoodwinked Mitch's team of negotiators time after time after time. I seriously doubt it would be any different this time around. If Mitch's boys bring up a morality clause Stoops' expert team would hammer them to death with the fine print.

It's obvious at this point that Stoops' has a top notch lawyer/agent that gets paid top dollar to bamboozle howdy doodies like Mitch for a living.

Seems like there is more smoke, which means there has to be some fire. Too much is being put out there for there not to be some truth to this.

The only thing that makes me think there is truth to this story is the Johnson/Edwards tweets. The rest could be classified as pure BS.

Schiano was heir apparent to both Penn St and Miami before he took over at Tampa Bay.
He has ties to northeast, Florida with his ties to Miami and even Tampa Bay. Built a terrible program at Rutgers into a respectable program. Under Urban Meyer, his coaches pan out pretty good. Tom Herman

There is no "morals" clause in the contract. The only "for cause" prong that might be implicated by the rumored situation here is failure to follow written university policies. Not sure that would apply either.

I wouldn't hate that hire, but I'd dearly love to have Butch Davis before anybody else.

So just as a hypothetical.....if this is true could there be a clause in his contract about this sort of thing that could void his buyout?

See my post above, that's what's behind this IMO...the hope he has violated an ethics clause that would render his contract null and void. As I said, if this is true he'd be removed immediately, as long as he isn't one would think this was/is BS.

I have. But there has to be something more damning than an extramarital affair. If he has knocked up a coed or been caught with prostitutes then that's a different story. But there's gonna have to be proof. Meaning media outlets having pictures, police reports, or interviews with those involved. You don't get fired because your wife kicked you out of the house. If that was the case then most of these coaches would be unemployed.
you mean like 'Art Briles' caliber proof??

ha, sorry, couldn't resist

You cannot and will never please everybody

I have a feeling this stuff will happen all year, and if it is true, it sucks. If it is not true and if he wins this year in the end, people will be wanting this swept under the rug

Just give it time

A LOT of the Miami guys wanted Butch back but many others also said he was NC2A violation(s) waiting to happen.

The big draw with him for me is his ability to find under the radar players and coach them up. He put a lot of guys in the NFL that nobody was recruiting out of high school. That's a talent that the next UK coach dearly needs.

Even if this rumor isnt true............be prepared for many more rumors to be started in the coming weeks . I wouldnt put it past boosters to start rumors just to show Mitch how its going to be until he wises up and cans Stoops.

I know Matt a little from years ago, and he always said his biggest regret in life was breaking the Jules Camara DUI story as they were friends

He will also probably handle this very carefully

I have to wonder why anyone wants a head coach that blatantly cheated at other schools including bigger programs than UK

Kiffin cheated at UT and reportly at USC (why he was fired on the Tarmac)

Butch Davis Cheated his arse off at Miami and UNC. Those guys would be cheating before the ink dried on the paper.

Schiano and Brohm would both be good choices but I'm guessing Neil Brown is the next head coach at UK. I think next year. Remember, he was hired as OC before Stoops was hired as head coach.
