how many other amateur sports does the team owners/execs (schools) make millions and millions of dollar off of them?

these guys makes so much money for the school, they should 100% be rewarded accordingly.
I agree 100% with this. My idea was to take a slice of NCAA tournament revenue with part of the revenue paid immediately and another part deferred.

I think my math had about $40,000 paid out per D1 basketball player per year with the only revenue source being 50% of NCAA tournament revenue.

Its like any business. If my performance is the reason for big deals / money for the company, I should be compensated accordingly. If I'm not I have the "right" to look for better deal for myself.

I don't think that combination will qualify the average fan to rank the top 50-100 players. You'd have to watch at least 50 to 100 individual games, plus watch more games of the top players going head to head. Who has the time for all of that if you are not Biancardi and others like him who actually paid to it.
You could be a fan and watch a thousand games, but if you haven't coached, or at least played in high school, than you aren't likely able to rank players. There is a lot more involved than the average fan thinks.

I agree. I would never assume that I could say who is #1, #10, #30 or #52 like where Betsey is ranked.

They also get free room and food.

This tired argument isnt making the point you think.
You're agreeing that the players were already being paid (via educational benefits, room, food, etc.)

This so called "amatuerism" was never there. They were already being paid for playing sports.

If everyone agrees the players are being paid Pre-NIL - now it's just a matter of level of compensation. NIL allows for an increased level of compensation.
