Thanks. As an FYI to those still worried about whether they can watch it or not...

I can confirm that I am unable to use the WatchESPN app since I'm not a Comcast TV customer. However, I just went to ESPN3 on my home PC and I can watch the live soccer matches since I'm a Comcast internet customer. As far as I'm concerned, that's proof that anyone with approved ISPs should be able to pull up the game on Sat night online.

I hope you are right. I have comcast internet and I could NOT pull up the Ravens/Bengals game last night in class. I hope that the "restrictions" it mentioned were directly for me... otherwise, I will not be able to watch Saturday. And that would be quite disappointing.

Who's retard idea was this? Why make it only viewable online?

Did we agree to this? What the hell is ESPN doing? Why deliberately inconvenience people like this

Would you prefer it not be viewable at all? Because that's the alternative. This isn't an SEC game, as far as TV goes. It's a Sun Belt game. Not a lot of Sun Belt games on actual TV.

This isn't an inconvenience. This is a way to watch a game that would otherwise not be televised.

Yeah, because I miss the days of standing in the Bundy Fox TV viewing position just to pickup bits and pieces of an AM State broadcast. I'll take the inconvenience of plugging my computer up to my tv anyday.

Yes, it is. I work in web development and the golden rule is to make it as easy as possible. So i go to the WatchESPN app on my IPad and it clearly states that I have to have an account to watch the content. I have Comcast XFINITY broadband so I put that password in. I get in without problem and try to watch something and it tells me that I need TV service to watch some things and not others. It's too damn hard to figure out and is a HUGE ***********. People have different internet and TV providers but they make you pick one and then half the **** doesn't work. This is the stupidest app ever put out!

A 17ing men... I'm in computer science and same rules apply... This seems more like they know that people will just adhere to whatever set of options they set in front of them because they know they won't be challenged on it. I swear, ESPN gives me so many reasons to hate them, and things like this just adds to it.

Piss Poor write up by HailState. Available with certain ISPs.

Yes you can use espn3.com without those cable TV providers, provided you use a participating ISP.

"What networks are available thru WatchESPN?Subscribers with an ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Goal Line or ESPN Buzzer Beater TV subscription from a participating TV service provider will have access to watch a live stream of the same network online and via the WatchESPN app in addition to content on ESPN3, subject to certain rights and blackout restrictions. Subscribers of non-participating TV providers will have access solely online at WatchESPN.com to ESPN3 programming as long as they subscribe to a participating high speed internet service provider."

Yeah I am out I have centurylink as my ISP up here and directv satellite...espn3 is not as inclusive as it sounds...I bought the gameplan for the season and hoping it shows up there somehow. I love the idea of watching tv through the Internet but i am not about to change my ISP for the crappy mediacom cable

Since its only available online why not make it available on the hail state tv. Seams like that would make most here happy. Me in particular. Can't get ether online espn here as the ISP needed are not in my area. I know it's all in the espn contract stuff but dam it sucks! At least this week. Most other weeks I'm enjoying games in HD

I don't understand why they don't have a subscription service available for people who don't have the approved ISP

Ok so if a am a xfinity customer and have an Xbox I should be able to put the game on one tv (the one with Xbox) and have a couple of iPads going with ESPN3 and I am set.

Correct. Just be sure you know your Comcast login. Best to try and login now if you haven't done it before.

There's nt that much confusion about it. ESPN3 is what used to be ESPN360. It's their online only service. Always has been. WatchESPN is their completely separate app to WATCH ESPN channels. They aren't going to just give that away to people that don't have cable/sat TV.

Its been like this always. Watch it on your computer, or your Xbox, if you have one.

So, to watch the game you have to have an approved ISP AND an approved TV service???

So if I go to a friends house that has AT&T DSL but has DirecTV then we can't get the game??

I have to agree with the posts below. There are too many "If's" involved in this. If you're going to stream it on the internet ESPN, then just stream it so anyone can watch???

You only need an approved internet service for ESPN3.

WatchESPN - you need an approved TV service where you get ESPN already on your TV and your TV service provides WatchESPN.

This line confuses the **** out of me...

Mississippi residents with Metrocast, Comcast, DirectTV or Dish Network will NOT be able to watch the game via ESPN3.com.
If I am reading this correctly, they need to clarify that if you have Comcast TV service only - you won't be able to watch it. You need to have Comcast internet or any of the other approved ISP's to be able to watch the game - which to me is ridiculous.

They are trying to force people to keep their cable. That's all it boils down too.

I don't know why they put that sentence in the article. The link that is provided is for WatchESPN, not ESPN3. They are two separate "channels." It doesn't matter what cable service you have for ESPN3, all that matters is your internet provider.

ESPN has made it confusing. ESPN3 is inside WatchESPN. So you go to WatchESPN to watch programming on ESPN3. If you don't have the right credentials, you might be able to watch some things on ESPN3 and not some things on WatchESPN and vice versa.

Apparently BWW is showing the game in Starkvegas minus the audio? My boss asked & they said they would show it minus the audio but would have the radio on to hear the play by play. Anybody else confirm this?

To me, ESPN is crawfishing somewhat on the SEC deal. They made the deal to broadcast all SEC games on television in PPV or one of their networks. I don't think an internet delivery network technically qualifies in my book. Sure you can watch it, and even watch it on your television IF you have the technology, but I don't think it fulfills the promise of the original agreement.

So, can you watch the game with just ESPN3 or do you have to have WatchESPN app?

I've been reading through the ESPN3 site and can't find anything about watching the game. It seems that links keep taking me to the WatchESPN app deal.

And you have to have an Xbox Live Gold account as well unless something has changed recently. It's only $50/yr but just wanted to point out that you have to have more than just an Xbox to be able to watch.

Yes. I'm not sure whether cable companies have exclusive rights or if satellite providers just haven't ponied up yet, but this needs to be fixed and ESPN should be leading the charge. It's great that they're offering a service that was not available at one time, but they're leaving a huge portion of their viewing audience in the dark while the ones that do have access rights are so damn confused that they probably don't even realize it.

If you live somewhere like Starkville with your only cable/internet option being Metrocast, I'm assuming that you're screwed. At the least, ESPN should offer a PPV option for each of these broadcasts to anyone with hi-speed internet.

It's just a way for ESPN to make more money. I am guessing they charge the providers that want to provide WatchESPN to their customers. And it forces those that want to watch everything over the net (which a lot of people are doing now) to keep a TV subscription.

I'm very late jumping in this conversation....but I have AT&T Internet service and have never had a problem watching anything on ESPN3 on my laptop. iPad is a different story....since UVerse isn't a service that is compatible with the Watch ESPN App, I can't even get That app. So I'm assuming that it will be just like the Baseball Regional, where I go to espn3.com and can watch the game.

I know for anyone who has AT&T DSL and an Xbox with Xbox live gold membership you will be able to watch espn3 with no problems. I have 3mb DSL and get HD streaming. So for any of you that still can't figure this out go to a buddies house with my same setup.
