I can't wait for other related threads:

-favorite player at MSU
-favorite game
-favorite tailgate food
-most overrated player at MSU
-biggest disappointment
-best towel boy
-hottest female trainer

etc etc

I guess the alternative is a Stans/Cohen ***** fest or MLB baseball though.

To play along with the thread, AJ's pick 6, a couple Moulds receptions, and Norwood's TD run vs Florida all come to mind for somewhat recent history.

The ending to that game will never be topped I don't think.

In baseball, the Burke Masters grand slam is something I'll never forget.

In basketball, the Timmy Bowers drive to the basket against Alabama to win the SEC Championship and keep us undefeated on the road.

It may be basketball, but Jamont Gordon's last second shot to send the game into overtime against Kentucky in the 2007 SEC Tournament was like nothing else, we had no business winning that game. Kentucky had it won, and it was wonderful hearing that place quiet for once, nothing like it. You really had to be there to realize how sweet it was.

At least for a couple of minutes I felt like we were going to win. That was one of my most excited MSU moments.

Football: 1) CJ Sirmones, ensuing kick-pick-kick 2) Anthony Johnson's Pick-6 3) Derek Pegues punt return in the 07 Egg Bowl. The games in the late 90s were better overall than any of the 07 games, but those specific plays made Davis Wade shake.

Basketball: 1) Timmy Bowers game winning lay up (that doesn't seem to do it justice) at Alabama to win the SEC 2) Mario Austin's three to beat UK 3) Jarvis on Scotty Hopson in the SEC Tourney Championship Game. Honorable Mention: Jamont Gordon's behind-the-head pass to Charles Rhodes

Baseball: 1) Burke Masters' Grand Slam. Nothing else even comes close.

but back in '02 or '03, we played Oklahoma when they were #3 in the nation at the Sugar Bowl basketball classic at the New Orleans Arena.

To this day, I think it was the most prepared, best game that Stans ever coached. We were up big and toying with them at the end. There was a loose ball and the dejected Oklahoma players wanted nothing to do with it. Vincent went after it and saved it across the court to Zimmerman who had one of his best dunks ever. The entire arena stood. LSU and Tulane had the second game and they were standing.

I talked my wife into staying for one last offensive drive, our friends had already walked to the car. I think I talked to every MSU fan left in the section. Best road win I have been to.

Edited to add: I wasn't around for Burke Masters but I was there for Ty Martin's walkoff homer to beat ND. Dudy Noble went nuts.

Kevin Prentiss, 'Zo Miller, J-Rock

These guys played WAY bigger than their stature. KP was a tiny guy. But he could get way up and come down the the football, and had plenty of speed to go with it. Miller played with a huge heart and had the best instincts I've ever seen from a MSU RB. Norwood was the fastest and shiftiest guy to ever tote the rock for us.

So now Dennis Thames needs to freaking bring it.

Early 90's in the Sleepy Robinson days. Need a TD late to win. Watson Brown was our OC. They had a killer reverse play unlike any reverse I'd seen before. Still don't know how it worked, but what made it great was it was really fast-devloping instead of being some slow end-around thing that most reverses are.

In those days, we called plays at the line of scrimamge (ie: signaled in from the booth to the sidelines to the field). Our coaches were looking for a certain read on defense so they could call that reverse play. When called at the right time, the play either scores or has a huge gain.

So we need a TD to win at the end and Auburn finally gives us the right look. Reverse is called. Kenny Roberts who is the fastest MSU RB I know not named Jerious Norwood takes it to the house. Probably 60 yards or so.

to have many actual memories. But I will never forget the 2007 Super Regional against Clemson when we brought in our right fielder to close the second game of the series. Every body went nuts and rushed the field. That is one of my best memories as a MSU fan. But I will be there in the fall, so hopefully I can experience some more great times likes this.

As for basketball, I wasn't actually there, but I will never forget watching JVget his nasty block onScotty Hopson and yelling, "17 no!" afterwards.

Todd Jordan hands off to Micheal Davis, who pitches it back to Jordan who throws a 50 yard TD pass to a wide open Eric Moulds. To this day, the flea flicker is my favorite individual football play of all time.

For baseball, we were playing Ole Miss in the Mayor's Trophy in 1998 and pulled off a delayed double steal of home that worked to perfection. In other words, runners on first and third, runner on first takes off, runner on third holds his water initially while taking a lead off of third and makes sure that the catcher throws the ball and that the ball gets past the pitcher. Once the ball crosses the mound, the runner on third takes off for home and hopefully is safe. Usually the shortstop will try to cut off the ball ASAP and try to throw the guy out at home, which allows the runner to get into second safely. Even if the catcher doesn't throw the ball to hold the runner at third, then the runner on first gets into scoring position and you get out of a double play situation. The only problem is if you have a big time power hitter or a very good hitter at the plate, you open up a base and sometimes you can take the bat out of the hands of one of your better hitters.

I think they even gave a jab to the face one time in the trenches. Everyone says that about holding after every game, but this one sticks out in every State fan's mind. Hell, it was 9 years ago and people still talk about it.

after a caught pass. There were more than missed holding calls involved in that game. I have never been so angry in my life. I have been to games where there was bad officiating for both sides or a couple of horrible calls but I have still not seen anything on the level of that BYU game in any sport.

that was the game that was rescheduled because of 9/11 until after the Egg Bowl. We had a horrible season but Fant led us to victory over Ole Miss the week before.

BYU was undefeated, and on the borderline of becoming the first BCS buster. The game had Mountain West officials.

We were 3-7 but not as bad as our record indicated - lots of close losses. We were clearly the better team on the field that night. The officials really screwed us that night by letting BYU's oversized OL get away with holding on what was a pretty decent SEC DL. BYU scored late to win 41-38 and their Mormon RB that ran all over the MWC was held to nothing and broke his leg late.

BYU had to play Hawaii the next week on the islands and lost because they had no running game. There went their BCS chances.

Mormons are dirty.

Definitely my favorite play in basketball. A lot of State students were seated above one of the many, many Kentucky sections in the Dome. They were basically waving us out before the lane violation happened. The verbal assault we launched between regulation and overtime was classic, and then of course, we actually sent them home. Great day to be a State fan in Atlanta.

For football it has to be Anthony Johnson's pick six against Bama. I mean, come on. That was unreal. Greatest whiskey shower I ever took.

an undefeated BYU team. (warning: booze, time, and rage might dull my memories here) Then the Mountain West officials tightened up, and the flags started to fly (only against State, mind you). BYU linemen were dragging down DL's like there was no tomorrow. There were some borderline "late hits" called. We got an unsportsmanlike conduct call when one of our players tossed the ball back to the ref. after a play. You could tell, there is absolutely no way that BYU doesn't get to win this game. WWE had less laughable officials than this group. The crowd was pretty pissed after the game, and the few BYU fans just wanted to get away as soon as possible (Pat Forde Starkville joke goes here). If that game had been in a few other places, they'd be some job openings in the officiating world the next day. Long story short, it was a travishamockery, but Hawaii handed them their *** on a platter the next week.

1. The entire 4th quarter during the 1999 Egg Bowl. I was 15 years old, and my aunt and uncle told me that if I wanted to stay, I'd have to find a ride back to Columbus. They left and drove back to Columbus. I was right in front of the Kick and Pick (quite possibly the coolest play I've ever witnessed). After Westerfield made the field goal, people were going apeshit. I was high fiving people I had never seen before and will never see again. Luckily, after the game, I found my cousin who was carrying the camera cords for ESPN on the field. Got back to Columbus and no one had a clue what had just happened at the end of the game.

2. 2007 Super Regional final pitch. It was the loudest college baseball crowd ever. Nothing will ever be able tocompare to it. Anywhere. After whiskey and beershowers, I decided toHulk Hogan my t-shirt off, jump the fence, and spear tackle Joseph29. Best baseball atmosphere EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dang, seeing those Madkin teams sure puts perspective on our lack of talent today. Guys like Hunnington and Grindle sitting on the bench were better than most starters we've had this decade.

"You know I've coached a lot of years. I've won a lot of games and I've lost a lot of games but I can honestly say that this is the first time I've had one taken from me." I put that in quotes and while it might not be exactly word for word what he said, I know its at least 99% correct. I'm pretty sure the NCAA opened his wallet after that comment too.

As much as we bitched about the bad call on the Tyson Lee's pass vs. Houston this year, the Florida fumble before crossing the goal line on their pick-6, and the GA Tech holding on the ends on just about every outside run, the whole season of blown calls doesn't even come close to the **** I saw in that 4th quarter.

The next week was the first and only time I have ever rooted for a sports team from Hawaii and they didn't let me down with a 72-45 *** whupping of Breed'em Young.
