Steat: "If a high ranked player has an handler, there is little change he comes to UNC. Too much shady stuff going on and Roy will not participate. It's much worse than several years ago."

Of course Roy will not participate. As shown in the past, his cheating *** is way above any of that sort of thing. Yet another way of rationalizing why Roy can't land any top players. Hilarious.

Finally a clear explanation on why UNC has struggled to get commitments from OAD type players:

The sad thing is that handlers are making thousands of dollars "legally" and the NCAA can't do a darn thing about it. Some kids have no control of their school choice. You have a kid like Udoka who wanted badley to come to UNC and could not commit to UNC because of money hungry handlers. A high percentage of one-and-done players have handlers and UNC will not play the games to get these kids. ~ Steat

This is just comical from DSouth:

Ut oh dukies, is it as funny now as when I said a few weeks ago that we had a good shot at this kid, that we may not lead for him at the time but he is not a gurantee dukie lock? Now that Capel can not keep telling the kid that UNC looks like they are going to have a post season ban in your one season of college ball, things are not so certain are they. Oooops, I just raised shonuffs blood pressure by 50pts, darn, I was shootin for 100...LOL

Don't worry gary, they gonna have some fun about you today for sure, they may even hate you more than me right now, that took some doing! LOL

Seriously, I heard a while back that there was a lot of negative recruiting going on aimed at us and shared with both Carter and Knox and they were listening to it. They were especially concerned that UNC could have got a post season ban in the only season they are planning to play college ball. Now that has gone away with the NOA and we look now like Roy was telling them the truth all along and others were, shall we say being liberally progressive with the truth...

@Showenuff with a special shoutout. Also, I don't know where he got that we hate Gary and him. Thinking they're idiots doesn't necessarily mean we hate them.

Just amazing but what else would you expect from that clown (and one of many over there). He "heard a while back" about all the negative recruiting, huh?? LOL. They all have these unknown "sources" and love using the "I heard" generalization in order to get their nonsense started. gary is famous for this as well. What a joke. And no, not worried at all about CArter, Bamba and/or Knox even seriously considering that place. Keep dreaming, s***heads.

You all might as well just read it yourselves. Not many posts in the thread but still quite entertaining. They have this delusion that they really do have a shot with Carter and Bamba. The last poster, in his ridiculous dream, even asks how great it would be when we had a huge meltdown if they got Bamba, Carter and Tilmon. And gary saying UNC was the heavy favorite for Carter until Capel started his negative recruiting. You really can't make this s**t up. It is awesome reading that garbage.

I thought they didn't go after OADs because UNC-CH is a serious academic institution? I read it on THR! Now I'm really confused.

Exactly and remember, Roy doesn't go after that kind of player, he doesn't play those shady games with the "handlers" and whatnot. They are a special breed over there.

I wouldn't use hate to describe gary and dsouthr. I would however use ill informed in almost all cases. Other than that it is tough to hate someone I have never met over things like basketball.

"God I hate Capel. From that shot in 1995, to him f***king ruining every top recruit we go after, there is not a soul in dookieland I despise more than him. Dude is a real cutthroat bastard."

This dude comes across as somewhat reasonable on the national board, only to spew this nonsense at THR. Also, I'd love to know how he "ruined" Jabari Parker (NBA #2 pick), Jahlil Okafor (NBA #3 pick and national champ), Justise Winslow (NBA #10 pick and national champ), and Tyus Jones (NBA #24 pick and national champ).

Oh yea, I'm aware. I've got my own intel on Carter and it's not even in the same universe as what Gary is saying.
Yup, your sources are good coach. I think if gary did truly have good sources, he would A. be correct far more than he is wrong and not the other way around ans 2. keep his sources info to a bare minimum on free message boards.

MArk, I could be wrong but I think he was more or less complimenting Capel and Duke in that post. I think he meant "ruining" as in ruining UNC's chances. Which Capel has done a GREAT job of with recruits both schools are going after. Most recently Brandon Ingram.

I've learned through this whole Bolden ordeal that nothing is 100% until they actually announce (and even then it's not final sometimes). But I can say, that as of this moment. UNC is not "in good shape" with Carter and if they have made up any ground on Duke it's millimeters at this point.

I don't mean to beat this dead horse into submission, but since you brought it up, what are your thoughts on Bolden?

I honestly have no idea that this point. He had all but committed to Duke and then things changed after the Thornton situation. Some are saying he is genuinely torn and Marcus Lee has no bearing on his decision because he knew there would be a spot all along. I still say that if he was coming to Duke there would be no hold up at this point unless he is waiting for his high school's announcement ceremony that is taking place next Friday (May 20th). I don't have a good feeling about it, but I am just guessing.

I think Bolden's gonna be announcing where is going sometime in the future. I also think when he makes the announcement to where he will attend we will all know at that time. In the mean time I would like to hear what, gary-7, steat and dsouther think about what the NY Yankees chances are of signing former unc great charlie scott to a 10 year 50 million dollar contract. I know they probably lurk and being a Yankee fan I would love to see charlie play for at least 10 more years. I know at least gary-7 knows. ;) OFC

Gary's dorky response to DSouther's s**t.

DSouthr said: ↑
LOL on the Foxy, I slide on that one cause folk get mad when I talk politics on this board! LOL

"But yeah, on Carter, it is like a title fight set for 12 rounds, duke hit us with a huge body shot and got the 1st round knock down but now the 8 count is done, bell rings, time for round 2. Roy ain't done punching and is gonna land his own heavy shots, we will have to see who is left standing in the end."

Then good old gary:

Now THAT might be the best analogy yet.

Or you could go with pro rasslin'. Mike the Rat hits True Blue Roy with foreign objects (while the ref ain't lookin' of course) and the Rat's slimey manager (Cut-throat Capel) blows powder in his face, but just when it looks dire, the Roy-ster starts shaking and his eyes bulge out... (cue the Hulk Hogan music)....

"What would the over/under be on DBR meltdown if we got Bamba/Tilman and Carter?"

gary's response...lol.

"Oh, be still my heart...;)

Seriously, Tom, we all know the '17 class is crucial. We need another "anchor" class like '14.
Jalek is a great class cornerstone, and we're gonna need two Bigs (or a true post plus a combo-forward like say, PJ Washington). A true Point would be nice (JB, Nate and Stilman could all be gone) and an athletic 3 wouldn't hurt but frontcourt is a huge priority.(no pun intended).

From everything I've heard Roy has some extra pep in his step these days. A lotta damage was done and the damned media still ain't helping us but Roy has the final NOA going for him. And c'mon... if you're a Big who wants to touch the ball, UNC's gotta be on your list. I suspected Wendell would be back in play and that was good to hear that he is.

We still have work to do. Get 'em, Roy."

Jalek Felton is a great class cornerstone?? Lol.

gary.......

Yep. Roy is going hard for a Carter/Bamba duo.

Before the new NOA most of the media conceded Wendell to dook, but they forget UNC was his early (heavy) favorite before dook even got involved (which BTW wouldn't have happened without USA Basketball, but that's a whole nuther issue). Wendell is not a "dook player" --- he is a perfect fit for our system and he knows that. In fact, without the negative junk we would have been the odds-on favorite.

However, make no mistake, the ncaa junk hurt a lot with the Carters --- and Capel apparently flat did a number on us with negative recruiting. But... now with Roy vindicated he ain't backing down. I just hope he can make up for the ground we lost....

Another beauty from DSouthr, long winded as usual. The old "Heels are family" and nobody else is garbage. They truly believe they are the only program that has a family type of thing going on. It has always seemed absurd to me.

"What does this set for life thing really even mean? There are tons of coaches that have example after example of former players that are set for life and are due to their time as players. I would question how you are set for life better by committing to duke and only being there 2 semesters? If 2 semesters is all you are gonna be there then you could be just as set for life at any D-1 school, the one & done from LSU this season, ya think he is not set for life, Seth Curry Lebron are set for life, ya think they would be any more set if they had spent 2 semesters at duke?

I just find it funny and especially so from coaches like K and kalipari who talk about their players being set for life just cause they spend 2 semesters at duke or Ky. Out side of basketball ya really think either of those coaches one & done players are more set for life than Joel James is with the education and experiences he has earned while at carolina. You want to talk set for life, there is a former Ky player that is well known as the investment guru for professional players, that cat is set for life. Most of that set for life nonsense K is telling these kids about is set for their life as long as they are a player but what they do with their money and the decisions they make after basketball is on them. Does K or kalipari help that last guy on their bench find a job after their playing days are done, Dean did and so does Roy.

K is trying to rip off the Carolina Way, to imply that the dukies have family just like he knows the former tar Heel players are family forever. Saying it does not make it so...There were over 50 former tar Heel players at that last game that ended last season. Jordan was there but so was barnes and lenny, old players, young players, players from all ages and generations were there and it should not have surprised anyone. The family came together but our family is never that far apart. When you are a Joel James and now know you can pick up the phone and call Jordan and he welcome your call, pick up the phone and call barnes right after his team wins the title, pick up the phone and call Kupcheck and those men are your friends, IDK but that is being pretty darn set for life."
