MikeIrby on Dennis Smith committing to NC State:

"Very much afraid this was all about the shoes again!"

Someone is in denial about UNC's problems...
It could have been about the shoes. It could have been about the color red. It could have been about the fact that Gott made him a priority. It could have been a lot of things but one thing it was not was about UNC.

There certainly may have been times when guys were banned after that incident. I would imagine there was a general ban of Duke fans after that incident.
Not "may have been" cory. It happened. That is a fact. On th eother hand, not one UNC poster was banned because they were UNC fans here at the time of that incident.. So draw your own conclusions but the way the two sites are moderated are completely different in many areas. Which is fine, but to pretend otherwise is not paying attention very closely.

Dennis Smith Jr, was considered an NC St lean for a long time now by some guys involved in recruiting that I trust far more than any UNC poster who is rarely right, if at all. I personally thought he would end up at UK but NC St was the second program on that list. This was after Duke chose to go the Frank Jackson route.

Gary with a GEM!
Roy's shot-gunning offers this time has complicated things, but he typically picks his fights strategically and works his butt off for the kids that he:
A. Really wants and, B. Has a realistic chance with.
I know Roy put in time with DSJr, but it is not his style to stalk recruits. Some recruits like the used car salesman approach, others don't. Oh well... the Gottfrieds of the world will win some, but Roy builds genuine relationships and it pays off in getting elite yet solid kids like HB, JJ, JoelB and Theo.

So let me get this straight- It's not Roy's style to Stalk recruits....ok what would you call hiding behind the bushes to wait for K to leave so you can go in same night after HB's last in home visit scheduled (K)?

Also- Roy doesn't use the "used carsalesman approach"- what would you call whipping out your briefcase full of rings/medals and talking about how you'll meet MJ? What is that? I know that has nothing to do with building a genuine relationship. But the SPIN GOES ON!

Gary is an idiot. There is really no way around it. I'm just glad he's found a messageboard where he converse with like-minded idiots. A support group, if you will.

Gary is an absolute jewel and I hope he posts forever. He has a general formula: post things as thinly-veiled innuendo with a winkie emoticon to suggest he has some info the average person doesn't. Then, when that doesn't come to fruition, give some comical excuse (Roy's not a shill, too much depth, etc.) as opposed to dealing with a few harsh realities: 1.) you are not "plugged in," and 2.) there are plenty of kids who just do not like what Roy is selling.

He is like the guy who says ten things, nine of them being wrong, and then when the tenth is right, he gets to say "I told ya" and feels vindicated.

Every single coach, who is successful, is a first class salesman. They all stalk the recruits. Anyone saying anything more is a fan of a coach who is not having success recruiting.

If you don't stay on top of your clients, some one else will be poaching them for their money. Same thing with recruiting. When you're not showing the recruit (client) much love, someone else is and is trying to win them to their university (company/product). Sales 101.

Roy isn't getting it done right now. Ball dont lie.

I have to have a sales meeting every week to make sure our sales people are doing just that, staying on top of their clients. We are a small business and if they do not, we lose said clients and then we lose our jobs. You said it well timo. UNC fans are just in denial, which is common for all fan bases, when you lose a recruit.

Yeah, I wasn't meaning to question what you said. It was meant to show the two could coincide. It isn't a because this happened the other can not happen deal. That happened and Duke fans have debated there without getting banned. That was what I intended to express.

Hey I was one who debated, passionately, over there before that incident. I was allowed a lot of rope from day one and never disrespected that, but something changed. Which is what I am saying. Of course there are many new moderators now and many of the better posters have since left or are just premium guys now. Just my observations is all.

I will agree that your mods SEEM to be more lenient than say Kentucky's. Hell, I got banned from their forum because they had a thread that said which freshman pg do you think will be best at the end of the year and I answered Joel Berry. Hell, the correct answer ended up being Tyus Jones, but I was banned for not being the 17th guy to post Ulis.

Anywho, my point never was that Britt was as good as his ranking, and I am glad someone is backing me up as far as where he was ranked. My point was that Britt was highly ranked. Had an injury like DSJ's. Then his rank plummeted.

I said, this COULD happen to DSJ. Just like I think we could all agree most players skill diminishes after such an injury (Rose).

I then said I would prefer upperclassmen Berry over him. I think the world of Berry. That is known.

Why I am an idiot or such for posting about Britt's prior ranking is beyond me. He is our 3rd best PG this year. He is a decent backup. I hope he gives us solid minutes when he gets in the game.

I don't see what you guys find so ridiculous about the post.

As far as DSJ after injury vs upperclassmen Berry. Havent seen either enough. But, definitely putting all my eggs in the Berry basket. My preference and what I think is best.

It's likely we will be in that final 3 with UK and MSU. Word is that we are still trailing both though

From RoseHeel
This

Seeing we have an OV pending, I'd be shocked to see him cut us right now. Though its still an uphill battle IMHO.

This isn't really a ridiculous comment or anything, more of just a hilarious "when it rains it pours" type of post. Because not 2 hours later Bridges' cut the Tar Heels from his list.

They have never lost a recruit; if a kid opts for somewhere else it is because of "shenanigans." This claim is made by fans of a university currently being investigated for historically bad "shenanigans."

I just don't get it. And they don't even blink an eye. It's like they've completely blocked anything about it from their memory. Everyone else is cheating. Meanwhile, they're currently being investigated for lack of institutional control, organized cheating right up to the top of the food chain, and it went on for almost two decades.

It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer goes to the baseball fantasy camp and George says, "Kramer goes to a fantasy camp. His whole life is a fantasy camp.
People should plunk down two-thousand dollars to live like him for a week. Do
nothing, fall ***-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have
sex without dating; that's a fantasy camp."

In a way, UNC Nation has been off at fantasy camp for about 20 years....and apparently checkout time is never.

One thing that is insane to me is just the amount of stuff they come up, blatantly make up, and pass it off as fact. Or they'll use a winky face to insinuate that they know something. I read some of the stuff and it's just like, "what in the world are you talking about that isn't even remotely true." Then when you try and call them on it the response is - "oh how do you know are you plugged in with the recruit's family, we should just take your word?"

Another Seinfeld reference for you DJ- it's like bizzaro world over there. where everything over here is real, everything over there is made up.

Part of me wants to think they're having fun at our expense....but I don't think a lot of them are smart enough for that. I honestly believe most of what they post they actually think. That's pretty scary.

The THR Loonies make me so mad with their childish comments about everything Duke and NC State but even more so with their arrogance. Usually the sentence structure and grammar they use leads one to think they are not complete idiots and actually some of them sound intellegent. I think the idiotic arrogance they shown must stem from past performance, having so many players like Jordan, Worthy, Perkins, Fox and others who were successful college and NBA players. What they once were and what the are now are two different worlds. I think they really believe they are a special fan base but the things they say makes other fan bases make fun of them. They actually believe all the crap they say.

ofc

Heres what the genius ChapelHeeled has to say about Giles recruitment and of course its "in his opinion." CH is really "special".

"Opinion here BUT if Coach Williams visits Giles and then Giles does as expected and attends Duke, THEN Dook can actually say that they beat UNC (amongst others) for Giles services. I simply refer to it as "K"ay 101 (all, imo)..."

They were about to vilify Giles for, in their opinion, leading UNC on by visiting when he is already set on Duke. I brought up the fact that Harrison Barnes did that very thing. They immediately resorted to personal attacks for me even bringing that up, but no one at all discussed the validity of my point in any way.

Anyway, I don't buy any notion about Giles having already decided. He seems to really like what Duke has to offer, but I don't think he has completely decided yet.

I totally agree...if he had already made up his mind and knows where he wants to go to college then I don't think he would be waiting until early November to announce his decision on where he's going to college.
