Well, he did keep one thing from PSU...girlfriend Mia Bryant:

Besides the fact that the transfer portal has demonstrated that athletes today, really have no loyalty to a particular school unlike longer ago when kids growing up, wanted to play for a PSU or Norte Dame: how does a recruiter attract a star player to a school knowing that this person could bail out on the team within a year or two? Not only do you have to work at bringing them into a school, but now it takes as much work to keep them staying with a team for the long-term.
This is one of the reasons why great coaches from the pre NIL era are hanging it up. Just not worth it any more. Jay Wright is a great example IMO and to a lesser extent Nick Saban.
Guys like Franklin, whose best attribute as a coach is his hustle, should thrive in this environment. Remains to be seen.
By thrive you mean be a top four team and win a national championship? Then yes, you are right. Remains to be seen.
on the other hand, trying to look around and see which other programs have won 20 games the last two years and gone to 2 NY6 games. That’s a pretty short list. Maybe we pull Saban out of retirement to get us over the hump?
