Bulldogs are the underdogs. IF we can get the trap working, those quick fullbacks can run with a lot of dbs. Our defensive front is the strongest group of the team. Dogs CANNOT give up chunk plays.

You all are about the most modest champs I ever saw on here! This is one of the most respectful threads I have saw on here for a championship! Class acts to all of you Murphy’s posters included!! 19 titles between both schools!?!? Holy crap!!

We've been on both ends, and we know that we cannot take a single game for granted.

I’m happy that this game was scheduled for L-R which gives me a much better chance to attend. Years ago I saw Murphy defeat Plymouth 35-34 in a 1A championship game at Wake and I think this game could be as closely fought as that one.

Murphy may beat us, and may beat us good, that’s why you play the game, but I can tell you, those Plymouth teams aren’t close to this years Tarboro team

The Tarboro posters on here are modest, the ones on social media? not so much... lots of trash talking and according to all the ones I'm seeing it will be a running clock. It may well be who knows, but zero humility or respect from that segment of their fanbase.

I’m sure every fan base has those fans. Don’t let them get under your skin. Your community has a ton to be proud of

Yeah we got yall fooled up here. I’d say a majority of our fan base loves to to talk a little junk even though 99% is just in good fun and not serious.

Our coaching staff and players are a different story. I would be shocked if Craddock says anything in an interview this week that yall could use as “bulletin board material”. He will have yall probably believing Murphy is the best team Tarboro played all year. And that reflects in the team as well. For the most part the players move in a business like manner without a lot of extra stuff.

Watched a little of the Murphy Starmount game and #71 was getting blown off the ball on every play. Tarboro is going to run for as many as they want.

There has always been and always will be up and down seasons for every program. Making it to the state championship game is a huge accomplishment in itself for any program. I have seen some great Murphy teams dating back to 1986. I think most everyone would loved to have seen a Carl Pickens led team vs a Todd Gurley led team matchup. Tarboro is one of the gold standards in all of NC high school football. What they have accomplished is amazing. Tarboro is the heavy favorite in this game, as they should be. Murphy will have to play a near perfect game to bring home another state title. GO DOGS!

When it comes to traditionally great programs, it’s to be expected that there will be teams that aren’t down compared to other years, but that’s usually something that is mentioned early on. Not saying it hasn’t been said earlier, but I haven’t seen it.

#71 was playing hurt, could barely move beyond a walking pace and as such could not fire off and got blown off the ball. If you go back and watch the Corvian game you'll see that once he got hurt in the 2nd quarter it was the same thing (blown off the ball) for the rest of that game too.

Also Murphy only scored once on offense after #71 got hurt against Corvian, so it definitely effected the other side of the ball the last 6 quarters too.

Looking at the archives on simmonsratings…this is Murphys highest rated team by 8 points using his formula dating back to the 2007 season.

I cant attest to others but I said early on and throughout the season that this Murphy offense was not up to the standard of many of the top tier Murphy teams of the past and it's mainly down to the QB position, there's no balance offensively against good teams because they don't trust #10 can make plays against a competent defense and as we saw Friday there's good reason for them to feel that way. Also this Murphy offense is not nearly as explosive as most of the state title game teams of the past.

Now defensively on the other hand this is one of the best Murphy defenses of the last 15 years when healthy in my opinion, the last part being a big one because without a healthy #71 manning the middle of the d-line, it isn't the same defense at all.

The rating is nice and this year's group is absolutely a really good football team, anyone that says different I disagree. But since you broached the topic, as someone who has watched all of the Murphy teams from that time period, if each team is bringing their A game they are not beating the 2008, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2018 teams.

They wouldn't beat a healthy 2014 either, but I cant include them because they lost most of their backfield to injury early in the season and therefore that team never reached it's potential.

And if we are strictly talking the 8 Murphy teams that have made it to the state championship game during that time frame (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2025) best on best I'd put this group 5th.

You’re probably right. I’ve never seen Murphy live so I just have to go by the metrics so I’ll take your word for it.

I still think it’s a little strange that a good amount of posters up here are so actively trying to talk down this Murphy team. I don’t understand it. It’s kinda disrespectful to the kids to say they are just an average team when they have accomplished all that they have.

I agree. It is very disrespectful to these kids, they aren't an average football team at all. They're only "average" compared to other really great Murphy teams of the last 20 years and that's a really high bar to clear and still better than the very best a lot of programs have to offer.

I guess one could interpret it that way if they really wanted to be pedantic, but its not meant as any sort of slight on my end. I straight up said I thought they were a better football team than two of the Murphy teams that actually won a state title, so for me that conclusion is a big reach.

Now I think for some of the non Murphy posters saying it, it was definitely with some shade attached.
