As much as I dislike UConn, I love watching them play. Always a tough team. Feels like watching a Steelers/Ravens game. Just physical. Wish we had a coach that was about toughness like Hurley.

UCONN by a mile! I expect Puke to choke every year and they continue to do so. Hurley clearly knows WTF he is doing.

UConn can still be beaten this season, but it takes a very specific approach: you have to speed them up, keep a body on the glass, and stretch their defense so they can’t camp in structured half-court sets. Their strength lives in discipline and defense, not frantic pace. The way to beat them is to make the game messy in transition, force long closeouts with confident shooting, and generate second-chance points before their system resets. You can’t go possession for possession in a slow, half-court chess match. You have to turn them into sprinters, not grinders.

Arizona proved that recipe works, but they aren’t the only team built for it. Michigan, Duke, and Iowa State also have the combination of size, athleticism, spacing, and scoring balance that stresses UConn’s system, especially if they rebound aggressively and push pace. Sadly, Arkansas belongs in that group too, but we know Cal will fizzle out. Teams with multiple shooters, long forwards who can switch, and deep rotations can stretch UConn out of rhythm more than pure star-power teams. The profile that troubles UConn isn’t about one superstar. It’s about deep, physical, fast, and versatile squads that can make them defend the floor before their defense gets set.
