I feel like that’s what Cohen thought he was going to do to get forgiveness a few years agoIf he gets Kiffen the fan base will forgive him immediately
There is a lot more to it than that.Jimmy Sexton doing work getting Kiffin a raise.
It’s not really even about the right price. If he wants to win a national title he will go there no matter what OM offers because he has more access to talent at Florida. If he is just happy going to the playoffs every now and then and not being elite he will stay where he’s at. I think that documentary was him basically interviewing for bigger jobs showing he cleaned his act up, but his decision here will tell whether that’s the case or not. This whole spiel about how happy Kiffin is at Ole Miss is textbook definition of how they spin the narrative and work the media in their favor. They’ve always cared more about perception than on the field results. And they’re good at it too. I don’t doubt that Kiffin has somewhat enjoyed his time in Oxford but the idea that he won’t leave because he is in heaven pure horse ****. Just as they love to trash talk Starkville and start nonsensical rumors about our coaches and program, the other arm of their propaganda machine is the glorification and glazing of Oxford. Money talks and he will have no problem packing bags for the right price.
Florida is a top ten job. Not sure if it’s top 5. It’s close. It’s close enough that he’s going to pick up the phone when they call.Since Urban left, UF is a dumpster fire when I comes to coaches. Kiffin isn't going there. He'd only leave for a top 5 job.
He’s going if they pay him and commit to NIL. PERIOD.Since Urban left, UF is a dumpster fire when I comes to coaches. Kiffin isn't going there. He'd only leave for a top 5 job.
I couldn’t even bring myself to watch that documentary. What few clips I saw online had my eyes rolling around in my head looking like Stevie Wonder. It’s not really even about the right price. If he wants to win a national title he will go there no matter what OM offers because he has more access to talent at Florida. If he is just happy going to the playoffs every now and then and not being elite he will stay where he’s at. When Florida is ginnin, it’s a top 5 job. It’s been a minute but they can be as big as they want to be.Florida is a top ten job. Not sure if it’s top 5. It’s close. It’s close enough that he’s going to listen to pick up the phone when they call.
Hate to tell you, but in 2025, Oxford is head and shoulders above Starkville in almost every way. This includes proximity to a major airport, local public schools, etc.Oxford is no Different than Starkville. There are crappy areas in both towns. And that is the gist of it. They are both “towns”, not cities. They just bought and paid for their perception while we were cutting our main roads down to single lanes in each direction and killing all of our turn lanes in the name of “beautification”! They cannot even claim to be a Lame Town because Sardis is just a glorified fishing hole. Batesville is even more of a dump. I guess the do get to claim the booming metropolises of Water Valley and Pontotoc! Woohoo!
Knox is going to be who Lane bases his decision on. Does he want him competing in Oxford Ms for the QB job or Gainesville, Fl. Or Clemson, SC? If LSU, then he would have to send him to the big Catholic High! In LA, knox would be 6th string and maybe hold for extra points.
That’s not even close to being trueHate to tell you, but in 2025, Oxford is head and shoulders above Starkville in almost every way. This includes proximity to a major airport, local public schools, etc.
I think an agent wrote that word for word“At Ole Miss, Lane is happiest he’s been” says former Clarion Ledger writer.
That’s not even close to being true
I think Kiffin is happy in Oxford. But this coaching carousel is shaping up to be a lifetime decision for him. Penn St & Florida are open. FSU, LSU & Texas might be. If you want to win a national championship it might be now or never for him. These chances don’t come around often. He won’t win one in Oxford. I have no idea what he’ll do. But will be highly paid either way.I would say maybe 10% chance. If it was 3 years from now 50/50. It’s not spin to say Lane and his kids are happy in Oxford.
The town itself, Oxford is 15-20 years ahead of Starkville. I bleed maroon but I’m not blind. The people are another thing all together. Oxford is full of the most pompous douche bags I’ve ever had the displeasure of being around. That’s not even close to being true
Yea, I don't think the risk/reward on the UF job is attractive at all to LK.Gonna have to see it to believe it with him going to Florida in terms of that being anything other than him leveraging them for a pay raise.
Now if LSU opens up and wants him, that’s a different story, IMO.
Why is LSU more attractive than Florida? I just don't see it.Yea, I don't think the risk/reward on the UF job is attractive at all to LK.
LSU definitely has his attention though.
Hate to tell you, but you are wrong.Hate to tell you, but in 2025, Oxford is head and shoulders above Starkville in almost every way. This includes proximity to a major airport, local public schools, etc.
Okay, sport. Let’s get this out in the open.Hate to tell you, but in 2025, Oxford is head and shoulders above Starkville in almost every way. This includes proximity to a major airport, local public schools, etc.
A new Walmart caused a growth spurt? That should tell you something about the town.If youve ever done business in oxfar, you know that it is a sh thole town. Starkvegas ain’t paradise, but I’d take it over anything up north. I worked in oxfart for about 3 years during their growth spurt when they built the new Walmart. It was a crummy place then. It’s a crummy place now.
disclaimer: last time I was there was in or around 2018.
