Florida wants Kiffin.

This whole spiel about how happy Kiffin is at Ole Miss is textbook definition of how they spin the narrative and work the media in their favor. They’ve always cared more about perception than on the field results. And they’re good at it too. I don’t doubt that Kiffin has somewhat enjoyed his time in Oxford but the idea that he won’t leave because he is in heaven pure horse ****. Just as they love to trash talk Starkville and start nonsensical rumors about our coaches and program, the other arm of their propaganda machine is the glorification and glazing of Oxford. Money talks and he will have no problem packing bags for the right price.

North Mississippi.....Florida.....North Mississippi.....Florida 🤔 hmmmm

This is probably all Oxford psy-ops anyway. If it's one thing they are good at, it's selling their product. They are gonna reach into stupid depths of their pockets to keep Kiffin and when he doesn't take some of these "bigger" jobs it'll be because "Oxford is so awesome."

The town itself, Oxford is 15-20 years ahead of Starkville. I bleed maroon but I’m not blind. The people are another thing all together. Oxford is full of the most pompous douche bags I’ve ever had the displeasure of being around.
That’s what being good at football does to a town. It’s why we have to get football right and stop neglecting it.

Why is LSU more attractive than Florida? I just don't see it.
Besides Burrow and Bert Jones, can you ever recall an NFL quality QB at LSU? Certainly no shortage of NFL level WRs/CBs and linemen. Think LK fixes that quick. UF is a complete shlt show.

If a contract extension isn't mentioned this week, Kiffin will exit after their last bowl/playoff game loss. Nothing being said this week says all you need to know.

3 of the last 4 head coaches have won national titles . They also recruit better over the last 15-20 years.

LSU owns a talent rich state and has full buy in from the entire state and has a great pipeline into Texas and still gets top recruits from Mississippi.

bigger stadium, bigger fan base , more recent success.

How would Ole Miss manage to fall up after losing Kiffin? (Which I doubt happens, even if Ole Miss has to go bankrupt trying to show that they have money)
They lose Kiffin and hire Gruden? Talk about a perfect fit, the way he got canned from the NFL is damn near the definition of "Ole Miss"

The thing ole miss has done is put money in place other than just at hc. If they go all in on Kiffen, can they continue to hire good analysts, etc. Look at the difference it's made for us. I don't think they're going to fall like we did if he leaves. They won't likely be as good and won't have the easy schedules they've been having either.

I think Kiffin is happy in Oxford. But this coaching carousel is shaping up to be a lifetime decision for him. Penn St & Florida are open. FSU, LSU & Texas might be. If you want to win a national championship it might be now or never for him. These chances don’t come around often. He won’t win one in Oxford. I have no idea what he’ll do. But will be highly paid either way.
Plus, he has had an easy schedule seems like every season he has been there. Surely that luck is going to run out.

Kind of funny the week the Penn State job came open UNLV took its first *** whipping.
Did you watch the game? I thought UNLV came out with a great gameplan. No doubt Boise state was just a better team with better players but Mullen’s 1st half game plan was brilliant and even though they were losing 28-24 at halftime, they should have been in the lead but they got some questionable calls and a TD called back. Boise state made the halftime adjustments on defense and scored 21 in the 3rd quarter. The talent differential was gigantic between the 2, but you could clearly see how good coaching can narrow that gap some.

Wow, I didn’t realize that was unlv’s best start since 1974.
-per wire reports
The loss ends UNLV's 6-0 start — the program's best opening since 1974. Head coach Dan Mullen acknowledged his team made "too many mistakes" in the lopsided affair.

"We had some opportunities at different times," Mullen continued. "... In big games you have to make those plays to go do that and too many mistakes can catch up to us. We’ve been talking about how we’ve been finding ways to win, even though we haven’t played exceptionally well at times. And today, you make those mistakes against a really good football team it catches up to you.”

Pretty sure he used that exact quote here a few times.

There have been some exceptions but it sure seems like we usually have a harder than average SEC schedule & UM has an easier then average schedule. I think that will even out & reverse a little over the next 4 years with us getting UM Vandy & Bama and UM getting MSU LSU & Okie.

I think an agent wrote that word for word
Could be an agent letting the big names they are going to have to open up the pocket books, could be delusional Ole Miss people drinking their own koolaid. Only reason I might lean towards the latter is that I think one of the things that hurt Talty at Clarion Ledger (other than just being inexperienced and not having anybody professional to learn from) was being too close to some ole Miss people and being willing to regurgitate what they said (which really was just a particular symptom of being inexperienced and not having anybody professional to learn from). Probably an agent's language that he's trying to keep access to, but could be former contacts at UM that he is not filtering.

Once again, Kiffin is a not hot property. The kind of baggage he has doesn't go away much. This reeks of Sexton.
Yup. It's not like he has just run of the mill baggage, like a prostitution scandal and rumors of involving them in recruiting. Or having a kid die from heat stroke and allegations of abuse and a toxic environment contributing. Or having a student filmer die after allegedly ignoring safety concerns raised by the student. We're talking serious baggage. Not minor stuff that can just be swept under the rug for a winning football program. Except, you know being swept under the rug so nobody even knows what this serious baggage is. But after that sweeping, no more sweeping can be done by future schools for sure. It's just too much baggage.

Exactly. Worst baggage Kiffin has is he and his wife divorced and he dated a younger, 20-something hot woman. And he left the Tennessee job for Southern freaking Cal back when USC was one of the premier programs in the country and oh, by the way, his alma mater.

When was the last time you were in Starkville?
Couple of weeks ago and not just in and out for a game. Lived near enough to both towns for 35 years to spend a lot of time in both. Wife worked in both towns. If I moved tomorrow I’d move to Starkville simply because of the University but it’s not as nice of a town as Oxford. It’s gaining ground but it’s not there yet.

Kiffin is not leaving OM for UF. If UF even offers.

Not now. It's a new era in CFB. And Kiffin will ride the wave with OM in Oxford as long as they give him what he wants. And they will.

He doesn't have to win a natty at OM. Ever. He would have 3 years to win one at UF. Maybe 4.

The baggage he has is with bad relationships with previous employers. Seriously as relationships. I've said before here, I'm a big USC fan. I've been following his career for a very long time. Ole Miss is one of the few places that would hire him.

The way USC fired him was about as bad as the way he left Tennessee for USC, if not worse. It was funny, but zero class from USC. And it’s not like they’ve been any better since then.

Agree with others. LSU is a much better job. The whole sec is narcissistic/entitled, but Florida may be one of the worst. I would pick LSU 100 out of 100
I would pick LSU over Florida because they still have an advantage with how many crazy alumni are willing to give plus they still have an advantage of being the only P4 school in a talent rich state. I think LSU and OSU are arguably the top two jobs in the nation, just because they are the two schools that have shown multiple coaches can win a modern national championship there. And florida is in the tier right behind them for the same reason (granted Spurrier's championship is a little older).

Florida is basically where Bama was after Gene Stallings, where their expectations are out of line with how good their job is, but they still just need to hire the right coach to be back in the national championship hunt. No coach is going to shy away from that job right now because of expectations. They might pick another top tier program over them, but they aren't going to say no to Florida outright unless they feel very good about getting another top tier job.

I dont know how you fail to see it while it stands in front of you screaming - the only people who have ever won anything of note at Florida are all time great-level coaches Urban Meyer and Steve Spurrier. Conversely, Les Miles and Ed Orgeron both won titles at LSU.

Florida is the perfect job if you are planning to retire. Sign on with a ten million dollar per year contract and huge firing clause and dump the program over 2 years. You are already in a great retirement location and have fun!
